WRYC FM Frisco City is on the air stunting Christmas music.

Did the radio tour today. Ducting is awful (The worst I have ever heard it). Signal for WRYC getting out about 3 miles. WMFC washed out in Frisco City too. WBLX and TK washed out in Atmore. I heard Baton Rouge on 101.5 in Frisco. 96.7 in Grove Hill washed out. WLYB got a reception report in Cullman, but yet has interference 6 miles from transmitter. Cullman stations washed out. Birmingham stations were booming in Livingston. WZBQ out in Livingston too.

Wow! Wish I'd checked the radio today, sounds like good for a DXer (bad for a broadcaster).

Not a good day to drive a signal, obviously. I assume there's a plan in the future to return it to a full class A signal? I know it'll probably take some time. Any plans for the format after Christmas?

Yes format will be announced Tuesday 27th at 5PM. We have some things in the works for a future upgrade.

While I was traveling last night to Prattville, to make a transfer for the Exciter purchase, I could barely pick up the Montgomery stations. This includes the relays they have. The airwaves here were very sucky last night. All I was getting, was Dothan, Pensacola, Magic 96 from Birmingham and Southern Gospel WFCA 107.9 FM from French Camp Mississippi. All of this was happening between Selma and Prattville.

P.S. Let's make the format prediction for WRYC, shall we? I see this station being a carbon copy of WLYB in Livingston. Something along the lines of a Rhythmic AC styled station.

In closing: The trip wasn't a complete waste. At least ALEX 100.9 FM didn't have a sucky issue. I was able to enjoy them, for most of the trip to and from Prattville.

Atmospheric conditions are horrible this week. FM is worthless in Pensacola. Even my cell phone and wifi are taking a hit. (My Wifi has fallen to a 10 foot range!) New Orleans, Montgomery... all kinds of stations floating around on the dial but nothing local or dx is clear enough to listen to.

Shortwave isn't in my vocabulary. I've been listening to a few of my local talk shows on the AM frequencies of the FM translators (FM's been limited to a 3-5 mile range recently).
Besides that I've been listening to USB thumb drives,
Heading down I-10 to Tally later today so maybe I'll hear something new. Chattahoochee was back on the air a couple weeks ago with the strongest signal I've ever heard from that AM. I can't remember the format. WTOT-FM (oldies/standards) was the most interesting station a few weeks back. I really miss talk on 93.7 from Geneva. The PCB FM talk stations do not cover much of I-10. 97.7 Bonifay is still dead. WTOT-AM is still dead. Not sure about 1000 from Blountstown.

The Facebook page went up a month ago and no one tipped us off? Slackers.

I don't know about you, but Facebook's search is about as useful as a wet sackful of mice. I have tried to use it hundreds of times when working on some other (non-radio-related stuff) and it is always a major P.I.A. Sometimes typing in a page's name exactly as it appears still won't cause it to come up in results. I've gotten to where I just search Google and Bing back-to-back and find Facebook links through them.

They're other nerds in Bama that should have researched this besides you, ABMP. I still say the Alabama radiodiscusions.com users were slackers on this baby. The man in charge dropped hints and no one found it? I find that hard to believe. I wouldn't be surprised to find out you were in on this conspiracy. And I want The Man to explain why county was the best format for a small local Monroeville FM.

;)

Nasty, irrelevant, rant on the Radio People's new Dothan stations to come. 96.9 The Legend is the only useful station in the cluster. Recent Mobile to Tallahassee I-10 trips have crappy radio now.

Just to keep away lookie-loos like us, WRYC's FB page could have easily hid in plain sight under a phony title/username that wouldn't have been changed until the day/hour of launch. The wraps got kept on this one 100% better than one or two Mobile/Pensacola Cumulus launches I can think of.

Thanks seedless for keeping the secret. You rock :) I kinda forgot we set up the Facebook page.
