WSB-TV to launch 4 PM newscast day after Oprah's final episode

WSB-TV will go ahead and launch their 4 PM newscast on May 26th, the day after Oprah's final episode airs. Their original plan was to wait until September, but they want to go ahead and get started rather than let reruns drag down the ratings. Monica Pearson and Justin Farmer will anchor, with Glenn Burns doing weather.

So does Channel 2 plan to play out the reruns of Oprah over
the summer--or will there be any reruns?

Another post says John Bachman will anchor. Justin is ok, but may be over exposed.

John Bachman looks way more polished and someone a viewer can relate to. Nothing against Justin but I think John will bring the ratings up.

No, there won't be reruns. WSB-TV will start their newscast an hour earlier at 4 pm opposite WGCL-TV 46 (CBS Atlanta) News. Premonition: Something tells me that Fox5 (WAGA-TV) and 11Alive (WXIA-TV) may follow suit like they did with their morning news shows, prompting Fox5 and 11Alive to move Judge Judy (who I can't put up with) and Dr. Phil (who I can't put up with even more) to earlier time slots. l And why not more news? Unlike the early years of Television, there are no more local kiddie shows or cartoons (that I grew up with) or reruns of classic old-time TV shows except for a few on those religious TV stations (like WATC-TV 57 up in Marietta). Cable TV and those DTV sub-channels has them covered now. Since CNN began in 1980, every local TV station anywhere in the nation have become more CNN-like.

I saw her "last" 11pm newscast. I like the way she is "working" into retirement. She is a real asset to Atlanta TV.
