WSRX/Naples being sold to WayMedia and WAYJ/Ft Meyers to Classical S. Fl.

I would be ecstatic beyond belief if someone claimed this call letter & brought back "The Spark".
BTW, is 98.5 selling?

The Spark, featuring the greatest hits of the last four hundred years.

Imagine if it was for sale...

98.5 The Spark

It has a nice ring to it.

;D

The station's call leters will be WNPS.
Reception, between their three stations, will be available across the Everglades on all of both SR-84/I-75 and SR-90/US-41/Tamiami Trail.
WNPS will also overlap a bit with WSMR just south of or around Port Charlotte, no word yet on a launch date.

Re: WSRX/Naples being sold to WayMedia and WAYJ/Fort Myers to Classical S. FL.

From All Access:

Prices For Classical South Florida/Way Media Fort Myers FM Deals Disclosed

Also disclosed in an FCC filing is the price for WAY MEDIA's purchase of Religion WSRX/NAPLES from FAMILY CHRISTIAN BROADCAST NETWORK, which the contract reveals is $1.5 million plus an LMA before closing. WAY is moving its Contemporary Christian WAY-FM programming to WSRX's 89.5 FM frequency.

Can any one of you radio folks explain what is meant by the statement in bold print? Is a Local Marketing Agreement included or are they giving up one?

Makes sense that the old Christian station would promote the new one coming onto 89.5.
Looks like 88.7 is going for nearly three times as much as 89.5, but then at three times the height, they do get into Fort Myers and Cape Coral substantially better.

Ah but 89.5 is free from I-buzz to the east, unlike 88.7. :D

cd

Looks like 96.1, 101.9 & 103.9 share an omni-antenna at or near the top and 'AYJ has a directional about 34m lower.

On March 1, WSRX has suspended their own programming, in favor of simulcasting WAYJ in the interim:

Let us remember that CSF is no stranger to spiritual music.
Pipedreams is a weekly program recorded in churches with the largest and most impressive pipe organs in existance.
Seasonal selections CSF will be offering include:
Mass in B minor, by JS Bach
Resurection Symphony, by Gustav Mahler
Requiem Mass, by Gabriel Faure

I wish the local Moody station would run their Majesty Radio on an HD-2.

On a related note, WGCU is promoting their classical subchannel (the one about to be duplicated on 88.7) as if nothing is going on. I would really like to know how many listeners that HD-2 channel has.

I can understand simulcasting WAYJ but why not continue Praise FM as a internet-only station? Is it not cost-effective to do so? I'm sure they would get support for that endeavor.

Maybe you should suggest that to their former owner. Seems quite doable in 2012.

I got my answer...from their Facebook page.

Hello all, we will be back on the air in the next week or so at praisefm.com. All the great music you grown to love, so get ready and spread this around. Rob
