WTKF (The Talk Station) now carrying Fox News Radio

Today they dropped AP Radio News for Fox News at the top of the hour.

That makes THREE stations in the Eastern NC area that carry Fox News. WRNS and WNBR (The Bear) being the other two. Whatever happened to market exclusivity? I'll miss the AP newscasts.

I wonder what the rationale was -- Lockwood Phillips (owner of Atlantic Ridge Telecasters) is a conservative (he has his own show on the talk station). Does he think FNR is more agreeable to his political persuasion?

AP News seemed pretty neutral to me. A three-minute "just the facts" cast. Almost NPR-ish in presentation. :-\

FOX would have more name recog. than AP.
The FOX audio presentation, from what I've heard of FOX and AP, would probably fit better on the three stations mentioned. More upbeat, and more conservative would both be good points, as starters.

How can you be surprised? Look at Fox News' reputation. Look at North Carolina's fanatic right wing tilt... Constitutional amendments agains human rights, Klan rallies... These stations are just giving the audience what they want. If selling heroin were legal, they'd do that too - regardless of what it does to the people that would want it...

Also keep in mind that Fox news, in most cases, is a bartered news service while the Associated Press is non-commercial and charges a monthly fee for stations to carry AP programming.

A number of radio stations nationwide are dropping various news outlets and picking up Fox News.

Not really.
