Re: WTTH/WDTH Owner Gary Fisher is a Real Comedian

GF: “But once you get south of Market 100, you can still do radio the old-fashioned way. Radio is still very cool in the smaller markets. I feel fortunate to pick up by osmosis from some of the biggest guys in this business. We use all that stuff to do great radio. People tell me they wish they had stations like ours in New York and Philadelphia. We’re just doing good, local radio.”
I had to laugh out loud when I read this junk. What market could be crappier and more stale than Atlantic City?
Can anyone here tell me they wish that Philadelphia or New York City had anything even remotely like the dreck pumping out of that cluster? Most larger markets (Philly included) have those formats and do them much better!
The thing that smaller-market stations can do that larger-market stations can't is have a personality. Fisher's cluster is hardly blazing trails there. (Look at WAYV: I believe there's a total of, like, three airshifts. Almost half the day is automated--which hardly makes a difference, sadly.)
Good, local radio indeed! Thanks Gary!
