WVBC-LP Bessemer is on the air (according to lpfmdatabase.com)

According to LPFMdatabase.com they filed for their license to cover on August 28.
As their signal is area is tiny even by LPFM standards (not even covering all of Bessemer itself, nor reaching to I-459) I can't verify it, and neither the BOE's website nor BCHS' Facebook page have any mention of the station.

Can anyone near there confirm the station is on the air?

Interesting. I'll be interested to see if it's on as well. There's an amended engineering exhibit included with the initial application that shows them requesting a second adjacent waiver for WMJJ and WZNN, and asking to operate at just 50 watts instead of the full 100, so the coverage may be much less than the FCC's plot indicates. The app (which lists the 'incorporation date' as 1871 — I didn't realize the city was that old) also lists the stated programming as a mix of BoE information, school news, announcements and fill-in music of the urban contemporary variety "to appeal to parents of students".

Edit to add: I did find an article about the station in a late July issue of The Western Star newspaper, but it's just a photograph of the front page so I couldn't actually read it. The paper has exactly zero online presence beyond a Facebook page and it appears they don't post any articles online at all.

WVBC-LP was granted a CP for 100 watts for a tower at 24 meters. I am told they are using a tower that was previously used for wireless internet.
Given the hilly terrain of the area, they are going to need a taller tower to improve coverage. The amended app was never acted on, a license to cover has been filed for 100 watts.
I suspect that they will go up in height soon

Do you know anything about the station? The transmitter coordinates seem to put it at the BOE building. Is the station operating from there or from BCHS or some other school building? If I can find the time I may head out there to at least record a top-of-the-hour ID like I got one for WSMX-LP in Clanton.

I was able to pick up the station from near the Dollar General distribution center on Lakeshore Parkway, then along Morgan Road. Once I crossed South Shades Crest Road and crossed into Shelby County, I lost the signal.
