WVJS Now Oldies-End of Timeless Favorites

The impeding demise of "Timeless Favorites", WVJS Owensboro now airs Jones' Classic Hits Format. "Timeless Favorites" is suppose to cease this month. Thus far, WSON Henderson still airs the format.

WMST in Mt. Sterling is still using Timeless Favorites, too.

I've been listening to WSON fairly intently waiting to see what they change too. Was going to drive east to get WVJS if I didn't get it from here. Thanks Rob.

Does WSON still broadcast in AM Stereo?

Yes, there is a tech problem causing the levels to lean to the right. I should alert them of the discrepancy.

Yes, you probably should. Something like that could be quite annoying, unless they are making a special point. :)

I agree. 1420 sounds great. If you like oldies, you'll certainly enjoy WVJS or True Oldies 97.7 down in Madisonville. When I tune into 860, I'm not sure of what I'm going to get....music, local news, Henderson or UK sports. Since I enjoy humming along to the music, I don't tune to 860 too often for the aforementioned reasons. Since "Timeless Favorites" is going by the way side, WSON might want to check into a format called Hit Parade radio at www.hitparaderadio.com. It's worth a listen.

WSON still seems to be on Timeless this morning. Jingles and DJs both saying "Timeless Favorites". I thought yesterday was the end of the service as well.

As of 1pm CT, WSON still has "Timeless Favorites". I believe today is the last day of the service.
102.7 WLYK (THE LAKE) Cape Vincent/Kingston 8:06pm East still Timeless Favorites

WSON is now on Citadel's "Greatest Mojo" aka "Classic Rock and Roll" aka "Oldies Radio" aka "Classic Hits" format.

Passing through the WVJS listening area Friday, it sounded good...the AM audio was loud, clean & consistent and the satellite integration with the liners, etc was smooth...station is a credit to the AM dial.

You should hear it on a wideband tuner.

Prior to becoming a ghost ship on the AM dial, WVJS had even more amazing audio especially in stereo. Through the air monitors they sounded a tad better than their former sister FM, WSTO. WVJS was actually an AM stereo test station in the mid seventies.

The processing today is mostly an Optimod 2200. The signal is processed for the translator (100.5). The FM mod monitor feeds an Optimod 9100 with its compressor gated so only the limiter/NRSC portion is active.

I could imagine...Even with the NRSC limiting it to 10khz, that's less than 1 octave shy of FM quality on the right tuner. Glad to see (and hear!) that they take pride in their AM signal & don't just treat it as a stepchild.
