The impeding demise of "Timeless Favorites", WVJS Owensboro now airs Jones' Classic Hits Format. "Timeless Favorites" is suppose to cease this month. Thus far, WSON Henderson still airs the format.

Yes, you probably should. Something like that could be quite annoying, unless they are making a special point.radiorob2.0 said:KyDXIn said:Does WSON still broadcast in AM Stereo?radiorob2.0 said:The impeding demise of "Timeless Favorites", WVJS Owensboro now airs Jones' Classic Hits Format. Yes, there is a tech problem causing the levels to lean to the right. I should alert them of the discrepancy.

I could imagine...Even with the NRSC limiting it to 10khz, that's less than 1 octave shy of FM quality on the right tuner. Glad to see (and hear!) that they take pride in their AM signal & don't just treat it as a stepchild.radiorob2.0 said:BobOnTheJob said:Passing through the WVJS listening area Friday, it sounded good...the AM audio was loud, clean & consistent and the satellite integration with the liners, etc was smooth...station is a credit to the AM dial.
You should hear it on a wideband tuner.
Prior to becoming a ghost ship on the AM dial, WVJS had even more amazing audio especially in stereo. Through the air monitors they sounded a tad better than their former sister FM, WSTO. WVJS was actually an AM stereo test station in the mid seventies.
The processing today is mostly an Optimod 2200. The signal is processed for the translator (100.5). The FM mod monitor feeds an Optimod 9100 with its compressor gated so only the limiter/NRSC portion is active.
