WVNI-FM/Spirit 95's simulcast on 107.7 FM Interfering with 107.9 FM--THE TRACK!

Hello:

Spirit 95's simulcast on 107.7 FM, in Bloomington is causing interference and not allowing 107.9 FM, THE TRACK, to broadcast into Bloomington, today. I am aware of their simulcast near 88.9 FM, but, I do not see anything for 107.7 FM, on the net, at least, not yet. Does anyone know anything about this simulcast frequency for Spirit 95 and how to go about complaining to the FCC about this interference?

Thanks!

The Track is licensed to Indianapolis, not Bloomington. Spirit 95 is licensed to Bloomington. If 107.9 doesn't have a clear signal in Bloomington, I don't see how that's a problem.

The FCC website indicates that 107.7 is W299BD, and is listed as a (granted) construction permit owned by Brown Co. Broadcasters:

STATION INFO: http://www.fcc.gov/fcc-bin/fmq?list=0&facid=141565
COVERAGE AREA: http://www.fcc.gov/fcc-bin/FMTV-service-area?x=FX679444.html

Looks like 95.1 WVNI/Nashville on 107.7 W299BD/Bloomington is a done deal.

Looks like the app was granted, and cleared for construction, so a complaint will not likely do much good at this point, especially considering WNTR's contour doesn't look like it's protected in Bloomington: http://www.radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/pat?call=WNTR&service=FM&status=L&hours=U

Sorry.

The Track is a Fringe area station in Bloomington as is. I was going through Bloomington Last Saturday on the way to get something from Bedford and i lost the track just outside of martinsville on a good signal. I Had a Better signal on the way back to Bloomington from WZKF in Salem indiana aka Kiss Louisville.

Thanks for the information. It is a bummer that this owner/group gets to have three (3) frequencies in this area, alone. :(

Actually, I would recommend that you write a letter to WNTR making them aware that you are a Bloomington resident and listened to their station until the translator at 107.7 signed on. Send a copy to the Nashville station as well. Have anyone else you know who listens to the station write in as well. Translators are a secondary service and are not allowed to cause actual interference to stations, even outside of their protected contour.

Take a look at section 74.1203
http://frwebgate.access.gpo.gov/cgi-bin/get-cfr.cgi?TITLE=47&PART=74&Section=1203&TYPE=TEXT

"Interference will be considered to occur whenever reception of a
regularly used signal is impaired by the signals radiated by the FM
translator or booster station, regardless of the quality of such
reception, the strength of the signal so used, or the channel on which
the protected signal is transmitted."

Your letter helps show that WNTR is a "regularly used signal."

Hello, Neil:

Thank you so much for your information. I will do just as you suggested. Thank you very much for this informative piece of information. And, if there is anyone else from around the Bloomington area that is experiencing this same behavior, I would also encourage you to send your letters to both WNTR and to WVNI.

Thanks, again, Neil!
