WWJN-FM - 104.9 John FM (Formerly Wave 104.9) - Has Flipped...To What Though?!

I've been mulling over when to post this, as the station's been flipped for a while now(since right past Christmas I believe). I can't work up much enthusiasm for this new format. I also can't really place this format...sometimes it sounds like smooth jazz, then you'll hear a Kenny G track, then you'll hear what sounds like background music from The Weather Channel circa 1994 and sometimes it's songs with vocals. I tend to agree with another poster when they stated that this new format sounds an awful lot like WHBZ 99.7 did for a while.

Give it a listen. Thoughts? Comments?

Who knows. I've barely listened, but frankly I don't see it doing anything. Crap signal, and the format doesn't seem like something that will fly. I heard Sting "Desert Rose" a few days ago, for what that's worth.

Hey, it's what John wants to hear Nevermind the rest of us.

My guess it's trying to be a "Jack" type station

I'm just finding 104.9 and can get it (only) by using my CCRadio (C Crane), and in the car. Otherwise it gets drowned out by 105.3 on my cheapy radios here in Savannah.

I have eclectic musical tastes, but miss the Beach, Boogie, and Blues station that used to be out of Hilton Head. As a snowbird, one time I came back South, and it was gone. Heartbreak.

I think 104.9 is kind of filling that void, although it's more varied. On a website I found it billing itself as "The Coastal Empire's New Beach, Boogie, Blues and Some
Jazz Radio Station".

I'm a listener, and will likely stay one until it disappears or something comparable with a stronger signal comes along.

I just wonder how many people are listening?

It really sounds like the old 99.7 in Beaufort, and that didn't do really well.

And yes, unless you're on River St (where you have a clear view of the SC lowcountry marshes), it is difficult to pick up WWJN on a Walkman in Savannah. You get bleed from WRHQ and (for me, at least) WZAT.

I mean, it seems like a real interesting station, but a rather poor signal has little options for success
