I enjoyed reading about Gar Fla's DXing in Dunedin and how clear the signals of WWL and WLNO turned out to be. I was driving to McAllen last week for a business trip and pulled in WWL in my truck most of the way down Highway 281 between George West and McAllen. Highway 281 is a good 50 miles inland WWL was listenable in the middle of the day. I would have thought WWL would have lost the "coastal punch" that far inland.
On the topic of Texas to Florida reception or vice-versa. I was out at South Padre Island a couple of years back and was listening to 710 KURV out of Edinburg. The signal was still strong on South Padre, but a Spanish Language station was clearly audible under KURV. I'm curious if that could have been WAQI from Miami. Would the Everglades sap a good part of the signal before a free hand out in the Gulf? I don't recall the ticking from Radio Reloj, so I don't think that was the station. I don't know if Mexico has a station on 710.
