WWOR "MY 9" not happy with Pats/Giants airing on other local stations

From what was stated at ESPN.com, New York City is one of three markets where the Pats/Giants game will air on four channels.

That did not make officials at WWOR in New York happy.

"The NFL is in clear violation of their agreement with WWOR/My9," the station said in a statement. "We fully expect the league to honor their commitment to My9 as the exclusive free over-the-air broadcaster for Saturday's telecast of the New England Patriots at New York Giants game."

This sucks! It's just Roger Goddell admitting that the NFL Network is a huge failure. It's also the league kissing you-know-what to Brady and company. On the other side of all this is WWOR-TV/DT (MY) channel 9 in New York. They're royally pissed and I don't blame them one bit!

GO GIANTS! :)

DITTO!!!

Don't count on Fox and Hearst-Argyle (WWOR & WCVB/WMUR, respectively) getting anything more than monetary compensation for losing their exclusivity. If CBS and NBC couldn't clear NYC and Boston, they never would have taken the game.

But why didn't Fox put the game on WNYW instead of WWOR? Did they think Cops reruns were more important than the Giants? I find that hard to believe, especially since the Giants are normally on WNYW on Sundays.

It's all the fault of the NFL. They created the monster (NFL Network), and it absolutely is not the obligation of any cable/satellite provider to make that or any other network available. I hate cable companies, but this time I side with them. The NFL stepped on their own "you know what".

I forgot to mention above, that I side 100% with WWOR. I'm sure they paid big $$$ for "exclusive" rights for the game in the Big Apple.

WWOR was designated this year as the "over the air" outlet for local games broadcast on cable. Earlier this season, they aired an ESPN Monday night Falcons/Giants game.

Last year, it was WNBC that simulcast the NFL Network's Saturday night Week 17 game where the Giants played the Redskins. The irony is, this year's final Giants game would eventually air on WNBC, too!
