WWV 25 Mhz CB 27 MHz Skip 10 Meter Amateur Band Opening

I noticed that WWV 25 MHz was being heard on the S350 at 24090 kHz, the image of 25000 kHz, indicating a very strong signal. Tuned up and found a lot of activity on the CB Band and 10 Meter Amateur Band.

Tried FM BC but no indication of Sporadic E that far up in frequency.

10m has been wise open lately. Made several QSO from Albuquerque to Europe on 10m with about 40W (or less due to SWR in the antenna).

This year and next represent the peak of the current sunspot cycle, so openings on the CB and 10-meter ham bands will be frequent.

Like some guy with a southern drawl, echo mic and a linear amplifier? Fascinating.
If you tune higher, into the SSB Outband, above 27405, you'll hear the Latin American, Spanish language call frequency on 27455. also a lot of other Mexican, Puerto Rican, and Central American QSO's on the Outband channels. No drawls there.

Also, there are a lot of 'regular' sounding folks on the SSB Outband.

This 'peak' so far has been a relative dud compared to the last several, but it's definitely much better HF and MF conditions than we heard 5 years ago, during the (often Nuclear Winter sounding) solar minimum. It's still good, however, to hear more activity on 20M and above.

I heard WWV on 25 MHz last weekend, and it was stronger than any WWV station I'd heard in years -- a full S5+ signal. Barely any fading. In fact, I hadn't heard WWV on 25 MHz before. The 20 MHz one a few times -- the lower ones, naturally, a lot more often.
