WXBR-1460 (ex-WBET) IN AGREEMENT TO BE SOLD?

Don't you just love some of the idiot radio loosers that gave fool identities such as 141 AMK or 147 XQD thinking they had to join the band wagon with
absurd faux copies of top flight imaging such as Y-100 or Kiss -108, any nominations for the most ridiculous bad tongue twister monikers?

This is a good topic on its own: "Out-of-staters buying a local station, eschewing its history and screwing up the station". It has happened many times before. Cite some examples?

Yeah what about that guy that owns an AM in Cambridge on 740 and one in Maine on 730 ;D

WACQ 1150 was "Boston's new Q". I never got that one ;D

It also called itself "The station you asked for" during its first few months. Who knew that what we were asking for instead of the market's only contemporary country station was one that played the same uptempo AC you could find on any number of stations, only on a weaker signal?

What about that guy? Let's see... He fought at auction to purchase 740. He fought in court to obtain heritage calls for 740. 740 did so well in the ratings that he was forced to change the business model of the station because of the proportional increase in music fees, and is now listener supported.

Personally, I think it's a great case of market-driven media. Kudos to Bob. We often think that we (in the biz) know what people want to hear or listen to. Bob's station(s) drives it home.

Does anybody think there will ever be another local news radio station for Bristol County/ SE Mass in Brockton or Taunton(not talking about New Bedford or Fall River)? I think if you did it right with local news and local talk/sports you could suceed in a market like that. I guess one could only dream for something like that......

I would think WATD would count, but then I guess you could lump in there WPLM-AM as a potential station. WVBF has the potential to pick up the slack, but I thinking they might need to make some changes to cover most of Brockton. Now with the station staff being locked out doesn't look too good for new or old ownership. This is just a bad move all around.
