WXCY now on 96.9 FM in Wilmington and 1510 AM in Salem NJ.

WXCY now on 96.9 FM in Wilmington and 1510 AM in Salem NJ as well as their 103.7 signal from Havre de Grace MD. According to Radio Locator 96.9 is sending out a 250 watts from the Shipley Road towers which covers upper New Castle County quite well and into Chester and Delaware Counties in PA. For those AM listeners in South Jersey who miss the old WJIC 1510 country station from years ago, 1510 WXCY may also be welcome news.

this has been happening for what.. a month already?

No one here apparently bothered to mention it, so I did. It's a good move for WXCY as they now cover all of New Castle County with a solid signal. That might take some listeners away from both WDSD [Dover] and WXTU [Philly]. I realize XCY is the top rated Country station in the Wilmington market, but this move may make that even stronger. I guess we'll find out in the summer/fall when the next book comes out.

I'd be very surprised if 1510 has more than a dozen listeners. It's only on there because it feeds the 96.9 translator (or vice versa I'm not sure). It's good to have music on AM regardless though.

1510AM has a decent signal on the Delaware side of the river, so maybe a few more than a dozen listeners. I am an AM listener as FM doesn't play the music I generally want as I'm not the demo they are targeting, so yes, hearing music on AM, other than church or ethnic music is a great thing. I've listened to WXCY on 1510 AM as it does come in well where I live. In fact I get a solid signal with all three 103.7, 96.9, and 1510.

I was listening to WDEL today and they ran a promo cross promoting their WXCY 96.9 FM signal in Wilmington and their 1510 AM signal in Salem NJ. My guess is, the ratings will only show as one WXCY, just as WDEL only shows as WDEL-FM on the 6+ general ratings the public gets to see. I'd like it better if both AM and FM showed up. I'm sure the book the station gets has that broken down for them so they can tell where the listeners are listening, 1150AM or 101.7FM for WDEL.

I noticed that KYW in Philly 1060AM has different calls than their new FM simulcast at 103.9 WPHI. I wonder if their ratings would show separately.

Is WJBR-FM still on that Shipley Rd tower?

I believe WJBR-FM's tower is on Ebright Rd, just below the DEL/PA state line. The highest place in Delaware. WDEL, WSTW, WXCY Wilmington translator @96.9 are all located on 2727 Shipley Rd.
