Yesterday afternoon I decided to flip through the entire AM band using the Pioneer radio in a GMC Pickup, well, on 1640 AM faint but clear I heard " you are listening to NOAA all hazard radio, the voice of the National weather service, station WXK35, serving the Waco listening area............"
So whats up with that
? wikipedia says that WXK35 is located in Waco and broadcasts on 162.475 mhz with 500 watts.
I live about 20 miles west of Waco.
I thought I might be picking up the weather band somehow, but my radio works great and I was hearing WTAW College Station on 1620 AM and KKGM Fort Worth on 1630 AM.
My best guess is that someone has a weather radio receiver hooked up to a low power AM transmitter?
So am I alone in this or is any one else hearing it.?
Thoughts?
