WXMS UPN27 goes independent 1/1/06, no word on WRBJ/Magee yet

I was doing some checking today and discovered that new guide information for WXMS shows the UPN block being replaced each night with Judge Mathis and The People's Court starting January 2nd. Also, the UPN site now lists WRBJ as the Jackson, MS UPN affiliate.

There has been no offical ord about when WRBJ-TV 34 is going on the air. I have heard that they plan to start broadcasting sometime in January. If anyone knows more, please reply. I am hoping not to miss any episodes of Everybody Hates Chris. :)

I guess that means channel 10 and 27 will be wall to wall infomercials and preachers now. The cable company will no longer need to carry them if they don't have anything on it.

Also what is up with channel 53 and 49? Channel 53 is simulcasting a Univision station in Oklahoma and the audio is turned all the way up. It nearly burst a speaker when you tune past it. Channel 49 has some sort of video problem that has been going on for months. It looks like they just set these stations up on auto pilot and abandon them and never check them to see if they are still on the air, and if nobody ever calls them to let them know its broken it never gets fixed.

Re: WXMS...without UPN

WXMS will be moving to channel 77 on Time Warner Cable. If I'm not mistaken, that will happen on New Years's Day. I wonder if this move is being made to accomodate WRBJ.

WRBJ (UPN 34)

You're right. At midnight January 5, WXMS will move from Time Warner Cable channel 8 to channel 77. And WRBJ (the full-power UPN affiliate) will had on Time Warner Cable channel 8.

(Jackson's Own) WXMS

WXMS will still be carried by Time Warner Cable, even after it cedes UPN to WRBJ. However, WXMS will move from Time Warner Cable channel 8 to channel 77.

I wonder if Directv will still carry WXMS.

I have DirecTV and yes, they do still carry WXMS. They've not yet started carrying WRBJ. I can't wait for them to do so because I can't get a signal from WRBJ at all on the one TV in my house not hooked up to satellite. I can get all the other channels over the air. I wonder if the tower site being in Smith County has anything to do with that.

I was actually wondering whether Directv would retain WXMS after adding WRBJ or will they drop it. I too have Directv. Sorry, I worded my question a little strangely.

I get what you're saying. I don't see any real reason why WXMS would need to be dropped from DirecTV. <P ID="signature">______________
