Hey Open Mic Clubbers,

It's been a while since I last dropped you a note so let me first say THANK YOU. 2007 is here and The Mic is too. Yourvoices were heard,so thelocal decisionto abandon this station and progressive talk was reversed. Since the fall of2004, The Mic has gone through a number of changes and more are in the works. Most will be small, but some may be more significant when Air America radio pulls out of bankruptcy. I am looking forward to that.

Local changes willreflect the feed back that my bosses and I have heard from you. Some of thoseare detailed below and I'll be willing to elaborate on Tuesday night at High Noon Saloon.Friends of Progressive Talk have put together what looks to be another great rally with music fromDumante, Sean Michael Dargan, Jack Cracker of The Crest, and a performance by TAP IT- New Works. Speakers will include myself, Barbara Wrightfrom TheDardanelles, Tom Athans founder of Ed Schultz and Stephanie Miller Shows, John Nichols, Mike McCabe, and more. It all starts at 7p on Tuesday night. Hope to see you there.

Again, thank you for listening. Thank you for supporting our advertisers. Thank you for helping to spread the word about The Mic 92.1 to new listeners and advertisers. If you would like to do more, pick up a Mic Tote Bag and take it with you on your next trip to the store.

Hey Open Mic Clubbers,

Well, the worst kept secret in radio and politics is no longer a secret. Al Franken has left broadcasting to run for the US Senate seat once held by his friend Paul Wellstone. You can follow Al's political career at alfranken.com and hear a couple highlights from his last show on the Franken page of TheMic921.com.

Al's fame and ambition were a catalyst for the Progressive Talk format. He was not the first progressive talker, but he brought a spark to the format that helped Air America Radio and the entire format spread across the nation. He will be missed, but the possibility of hearing him from the Senate floor is exciting.

The Mic's first 'Franken-Free' line up will begin Monday (details are below). One of the loudest national voices (if not THE LOUDEST) fighting to keep The Mic on the air last year will be LIVE. Starting Monday you can call in to Ed Schultz and yell at him or give him a big 'Heck Yeah'. Ed bent a lot of noses this week, but he is still a great ally to The Mic and huge success on the air. Randi Rhodes will also be live and The Mic will now be carrying all three hours of her show. Rachel Maddow will be live from 5p 7p with what I think is the most entertaining and informative two hours in radio. The full line up is also posted on the schedule page of TheMic921.com.

While I've got you attention, let me take this opportunity to invite you to 'A CELEBRATION OF MADISON'S LOCAL MEDIA VOICES. TUNE IN! TURN ON! VOICES IN THE MEDIA'. Tickets are $5.00 and available at The Barrymore Theatre. Doors open tonight at 6p and the panel and presentations will begin at 7p. John Nichols from the Capital Times and Nation Magazine will be moderating a discussion with Madison media types. I'll be on the panel and you can also meet with Mic hosts Stuart Levitan and Jose Solorzano. If you haven't gotten a Mic tote bag ($16 cash please) we'll have some there.

The Mic Line Up Effective 2-19-7:
5a The Young Turks
8a The Stephanie Miller Show
11a The Ed Schultz Show
2p The Randi Rhodes Show
5p The Rachel Maddow Show
