WYOU-TV 22 News Director/Anchor Frank Andrews has resigned from his positions at the station to run for a State Representative seat in the 113th District.

In my opinion, Channels 22 & 28 are not in good shape, with no permanent newsroom supervision. Recently, WBRE news director Paul Stueber gets canned. WBRE's Executive Producer gets moved up to "Interim News Director." Now, WYOU's news director leaves the station to run for office. Doesn't look like a good situation to me down on South Franklin Street.

It’s The RMS Titanic Again!

When they fired Paul Stueber, that’s when they hit the iceberg, now, they are slowly sinking. My question is who will come save the current survivors of this disaster?

Former TV anchors who have run for office, Al Benedict,
sucessful Pa. Auditor General in the seventies, Ron Klink,
nominee for PA US Senate in 2000, Bruce Hershishion, nominee
for California U.S. Senate. Benedict was nearly indicted,
Klink and Hershishion lost their races in the General
Election. Good luck there Frank.

Senator Norm Coleman of Minnesota was an anchor there

Historically, broadcasting people do not do well when seeking elected office. You mentioned Al Benedict - he was handed a six-year federal prison term.

Also the religious aspects of Mr. Shimkus isn't a plus with voters outside of Wyoming Ave in Scranton. If they start looking in to backgrounds, it won't look very good.

Right, he did that before being elected Mayor of
Minneapolis. He also beat a giant in Minnesota politics,
Walter Mondale.

Forgive me, but I get the sense you have an interest in the insane political world as well as the insane world of radio/TV. I thought you might like this http://www.fandm.edu/x4086.xml

Everyone here seems to dislike WYOU's presentation. In my humble, unbiased opinion, I find 22 to be the most watchable newscast in Scranton.

Marisa Burke (sp?) on 16 almost screams the news to you. Weatherguy Tom Clarke seems more interested in talking about the Farmer's Almanac and the wooly caterpillar over scientific weather.

Channel 28's anchors seem very stuck up, like they're talking down to the viewer.

56's Ten O'clock news is simply a poorly produced version of Channel 16 with tons of technical errors and bad audio.

At least the WYOU Channel 22 anchors, as generic and as basic as the presentation may be seem to hit you with the news in a straight-forward fashion, and the weather guys are very scientific and extremely accurate.
