WZTI / WRJN - Now Mentions Fond Du Lac

The Title says it all - WZTI and WRJN now mentions Fond Du Lac in their new IDs but when I tried to tune to AM 1290 - I heard hash from WNAM (AM 1280) - I do not believe WNAM signs off at sunset - I do believe WNAM does change their tower pattern at sunset. Back a few months ago I remember hearing that WZTI has a daytime pattern and a night time pattern. Can anyone else in the Fond Du Lac Wisconsin area confirm is WZTI really reaching that far? I heard their transmitter site got flooded, any chance it got restored? Civic Media is similar to Magnum Media both go above and beyond to make sure their equipment is operating at the absolute best. The Government Shutdown prevents anyone from getting access to the FCC LMS or station public files.

The FCC hasn't required stations to apply for transmitter replacement in over half a century. As long as the total power output matches what's on the license, you can use any transmitter that's FCC type accepted, and you don't have to report any changes to the Commission.
 
It is interesting that Civic is putting money and equipment into a station they don't own yet. Not that there's any reason the sale shouldn't be approved, but still.
 
How often have they mentioned Fond Du Lac? The ID I just heard was the same WRJN Racine/Kenosha jingle with "And WZTI Greenfield" at the end that has been running.
 
There might be a be a potential customer in or near Fond Du Lac. Maybe someone thinks it's fun to say. I always thought stations should have the option to use the US Government's SMA for an ID.

Both stations I worked at in Cookeville TN would often mention "LA". Lower Algood is a very small town just north of Cookeville. It was kind of a running joke in an entertainment starved town the locals called Cook-Vagus in the 1970's. I actually had a mailbox at the Lower Algood post office. Any one asked me where I was from: LA was the answer.

Most of the "FM move ins" still mention what ever city they are trying to sell advertising in, unless they are using the "auctioneer" ID.

They mention it during one of the liners at the top of the hour. “WRJN has expanded now great time oldies is stretching from Racine to Sheboygan & Fond Du Lac and to Janesville And always on the civic media app”
 
While I think Janesville is pushing it, WZTI's pattern shoots primarily N-NE. Fond Du Lac and Sheboygan are definitely in their pattern.

Maybe, however, they should get their transmitting plant running properly. They currently can't be heard in Kenosha or Racine at all.
 
Ha - WZTI and WRJN have fringe coverage at best in Janesville. Maybe they're planning an acquisition in Janesville? The Janesville/Beloit corridor is the last major population area in the state without a civic media presence.

Not likely either Big Radio or Magnum are selling but with Magnum you never know.
 
Are there any FM translator(s) that can be moved, bought, or reengineered? I believe a FCC class B or D AM with 5 kw+ might be able to go father than the 25 mile rule. I am pretty sure the soil conductivity better up there than the clay we call soil in North Georgia.

I am an NOT hinting at some kind of deal. I have no knowledge of the local market. Just saying when the commission gets reopened, there could be some deals nationwide that could give us something to post about.
