Yes, class acts were lost at XTRA. Joe Mack was not only a member of the station but of the sports community in Phoenix for over a decade. Travis Johnson is the most talented technical guy in the business, but thats why he was blown out- competition for a guy that shows off his gut at D-Backs games. But for anyone to call Jeff Dean *gulp* good or even satisfactory obviously joined him on drinking his own Kool-aid. He should have been gone 2 years ago, right when he started
Facts: Jeff flat-lined against Gambo and Ash along with Rock and Manuch (thats not easy to do against the latter). Pioneer of "Sports discussion" radio? Really? I am sorry, but isn't any caller driven format a discussion- it's not like he poured his listeners a cup of coffee and chatted of scones. His insights were uneducated, inflated, and dull. He would read the AZ Rep and spew out the play-by-play of the games the night before. Ill-formated and absolutely the worst show that has been on XTRA for that long of time.
Jeff was the least respected guy in the sports environment for a reason. He never showed to games, angered colleagues for being absurd around them, could not get guests because of "players hadn't heard of him", and his presentation was painful to listen to. Maybe, He snoozed through his radio 101 class he took online.
Jeff failing isn't his fault, he should've never been put in that position. He was ready and was never groomed, he was thrown into a position he wasnt qualified for and thats because he was cheap. Good guy, just really bad radio.
