How is the PTC or the Mormon church able to flex their power and get "the Playboy Club" removed yet "Jersey Shore", "Family Guy", "Big Love" and a number of other shows that have been protested by the Church or the PTC continued to live on or lasted for seasons?
Probably because its a load of crap...and shows live and die on their "merits" (I put quotes around "merits" since I mentioned "Jersey Shore" and its only true "merit" is that its able to entertain its audience, myself included, but otherwise has no redeeming qualities)
The bottom line is that these shows live and die by the
ratings - and this show wasn't getting them.
Maybe I missed something - but did "the Mormon Church" actually protest this priogram? In my experience, the LDS church is fairly restrained in terms of boycotting or objecting to the content of any film, book, or TV program unless it directly effects the church. In fact, as near as I can tell, the church has been very restrained about the satirical musical
The Book of Mormon (currently a smash hit on Broadway), and that play ridicules the LDS church pretty hard.
Making the decision not to run a TV show on KSL because they consider the content unacceptable - is
not the same thing at all.
