Dr. Pepper said:true, the out of work and disgruntled board ops that usually bang away on this thing about what they would do if they were in charge have probably found something else to complain and prognosticate about.
I seem to recall when running this board that even those who worked full time knew more about how to run their station than managementMeepster said:This isn't really "insight" or anything...but do consider that there are a LOT LESS people in radio now than when this website was really buzzin'!

;D But you know, its ironic how there's really not much left of what we remember of this or any market to complain about, much less try to fix. No stations or companies need be mentioned, but it seems no matter who runs the show, the folks that issue paychecks are either in or headed to bankruptcy court. The 'little guys' being the exceptions, if you know what I mean.
Happy New Year, y'all... I'm going back in the closet now.

And...I contend that a lot of radio people are out of work (in radio) because it was a deliberate decision to stay out. (In fact-I guarantee that!) I venture further to say that a lot of people in radio (as it is now) aren't worthy to Lysol the microphone for some of those "Out of work and disgruntled" people of which you speak.
Many of those that have stayed in radio have done so because they're willing to do MORE work for LESS money.
That has only recently become true for most occupations. It's been the norm in radio for years!karsonwithak said:I think you might have a hard time finding many industries that aren't asking it's employees for more work on the same/less wages.Meepster said:Who knows...maybe if some things were done the way the small guys suggested (read here as "disgruntled and/or out of work" boards ops and etc..) some of these companies might not be in quite as bad a shape as they're in.
