YOU'LL SEE LOTS OF 30 ROCK & HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER THIS FALL

Looks like these shows have been sold to several cable networks as well as
local stations. They may become the "Married: With Children" for 2011-2012.

What other shows besides MASH would you consider over-exposed?

Will all these reruns and exposure put a dent on new episodes as some LOOK
for something new?

Everybody Loves Raymond is easily the best example right now. Local syndication, TBS in the afternoon and TV Land in prime time.

I think the fact that neither show was a big ratings success in first run may help it overall. That way people who have never seen it will be drawn to something that is new, at least to them.

Here were the year end rankings

How I Met Your Mother

  • 2005-2006 #43
  • 2006-2007 #61
  • 2007-2008 #70
  • 2008-2009 #49
  • 2009-2010 #42
  • 2010-2011 #48

30 Rock
  • 2006-2007 #102
  • 2007-2008 #94
  • 2008-2009 #69
  • 2009-2010 #86
  • 2010-2011 #106

Usually, shows that didn't necessarily perform in primetime do well in syndication or reruns. Think George Lopez or Family Guy. In fact, Family Guy was brought back to primetime after its run in replays on Adult Swim.

I watched a few of those when they were new. 30 Rock might get a retry but HIMYM is a complete waste.

I've seen all the "30 Rock" episodes except the one with Steve Martin, which I heard. Cable is so nice. Why didn't I do it sooner?

I only saw the Britney Spears episodes of HIMYM. That was enough for me. I can't STAND Neil Patrick Harris. How I ever watched "Doogie Howser" is beyond me. Oh, yeah, it was that goofy best friend of his. And his hot girlfriend.

None of them are overexposed unless you watch ten tv's 24/7.

This.

So what if HIMYM airs on Lifetime, WGN America, and your CW affiliate? Some of the people who like the show might not want to watch it when Lifetime clears it, or merely the fact that its on Lifetime. Same with Without A Trace's dual existence on Ion and MyNetworkTV, or Walker, Texas Ranger's presence on both Spike and WGN-A--some folks are more favorable to one channel over another.

"Frasier" is also on a little too much. It's annoying when browsing to see what's on and both WE and Hallmark have schedules of just Frasier, with both airing episodes at the same time. It's not in the leagues of "Everybody Loves Raymond", "MASH", "I Love Lucy", or even "Golden Girls", or "Roseanne" to get so much coverage.
