The more I think about this,the more it looks like a hoax.

If you want to be scientific,do it in July like she did.
The most research has been done by the historical aircraft group
TIGHAR (not mentioned in the link).
They have done about 40 years of privately funded research.
Their theory is that after missing or overflying Howland island
(the rising sun was in her eyes) Noonan set a course south to
uninhabited Gardner island.
Noonan was no slouch,held a merchant marine captain's rating,
was a first rate navigator who taught it for Pan Am but was let
go for drinking too much.
There was a report from a high school girl in Florida (TIGHAR has
her notes) who claimed she heard Earhart on daddy's Zenith
Stratosphere console...Zenith didn't make many,it was like triple
conversion,as good as any comm. receiver.
