Yours,Mine And Ours,With 6 You Get Eggroll and The Brady Bunch

Since the remake of the 1968 movie Yours,Mine And Ours that starred Lucille Ball and Henry Fonda is out now,I was just wondering how the original movie spun off into The Brady Bunch. I know that the original movie was about a widow with 9 kids and a widower with 7 kids and that Henry Fonda's character served in the military and Lucille Ball's character was a housewife(I have the movie on DVD,so if I'm wrong on these things, you can correct me).

But another movie that came out at the same time starred Doris Day and Brian Keith and it was called With 6 You Get Eggroll. The movie was about Doris' character being a widow with 3 kids and Brian Keith's character being a widower with 3 kids. One of the highlights in the movie was when one of the kids(Doris' son) said "There's a man in our bed."

I was wondering which movie started off the TV show The Brady Bunch: Yours, Mine And Ours or With 6 You Get Eggroll because both movies were similiar in nature and came out at the same time although With 6 You Get Eggroll was a more adult movie than Yours, Mine And Ours.

According to Barry Williams' book, Sherwood Schwartz wrote a pilot called "The Bradley Brood" in the mid 60's. All three networks passed on it, and the subject was closed until those two movies became hits, at which point the networks became interested. He changed the Bradleys to the Bradys and the rest is history.
