Wow. Sounds like 105.3 is a powerhouse in the making!

By the way, I realize not all the bugs can be worked out overnight, but they just ran a promo telling listeners how they can get "LIVE 105.3 Traffic Alerts" on their cell phone...

So....all this said, who's going to be the new talk station in town? I only found Ernie & Jay on AM because Russ hacked on them, and now they're the only thing I've now got to fill my news+ talk fix. ARE there any good talk shows out there?

There's a 3rd sports station for one simple reason.

KTCK is one of the 2 highest billing radio stations (along with WBAP) in the market.

KLLI is going where they think the money is...

Exactly. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

ESPN - As mentioned they are going to stick around because they are seen as esential to ESPN corporate for extending the brand. They have one high $$$ local show in the afternoon. Not sure what Irvin's making but that could be replaced by the dish or by a cheap local host. They live through the battle.

KLLI - The Fan has relatively little payroll expense with the possible exception of the Jagger show. They can sell bend over and take it from the Cowboys to get the deal. It's all about exposure for the flagship station and it costs you dearly. Best I remember the flag ship gets a couple of spots to sell in the pre or post game. Jerry keeps the rest.

KTCK - Unique brand. Probably the best at guy talk but still able to talk with authority at the drop of a hat about sports. But on a slow sports day in August they are able come up with compelling content. Their downfall may be the big contracts of their staff. When you add another sports station to start splitting the revenue pie with it could get ugly.

I noticed today that the Jagger show is NOT all sports?
I wonder if his show is next to go?
His show doesn't fit the format, something is wrong here!!
They talked some sports but that is usual..

Yeah, found Ernie and Jay the same way. I'm actually kinda diggin' on KLIF (570) now. They tout themselves as "conservative", but I think it's far from it. The guy in the afternoon's pretty funny.

KTCK is going to have some fun once contract time comes for various staff, as cumulus is a bunch of cheap skates. I have a feeling we'll see some big-name defections from the midday lineup. Im hoping, in a way, that BaDD(the extra D is for Donovan) Radio makes the jump and goes to PM drive(3-7p), as k-scott and friends can handle a midday slot.

You're right. Cumulus is keeping that place running with duct tape and paper clips. They bring a whole new meaning to cheap. The staff is very discontent but I'm not sure if anyone, Cumulus included, will renew these contracts at their current rate.

I like The Wells Report in the afternoons also, especially "The Good, The Bad & The Ugly" segment. Great stuff. And I like Ed Wallace's "Wheels" show on Saturdays.

But some of the other shows on KLIF get old in a hurry, and off to the Ipod I go.
