All of these stations are once again dance friendly... B-96 isnt real dance heavy, but still quite a bit for chr rhythmic,, also the 3 chrs I mentioned which for the last year had moved away from dance, are once again getting back to their roots.... That is all... Thats the 411 on Dance Friendly CHRs in the U.S..... Anyone know any others? Also add KTFM San Antonio to the list.. How long till any of these become dual reporters?

I've never heard B-96 but are well aware of the history there :).

However I have heard Z103.5 (as far back to the days of Hot 103.5), K-104 (I "grew" up with that station when I went to Marist College in Poughkeepsie and sounded WAY better than it did back in the 80's..though the 90's REALLY kicked the dance peak there) and Fun 107 (trips out to New Bedford, Newport, etc.). Excellent dance friendly stations.

I only wished that 92.3 Now would have taken some portion of dance with it during the dayparts. Oh well.

I heard the dance mix of Lady Antebellum on KTFM today. Also, in rotation are Young Money-Bedrock and OneRepublic- All The Right Moves both remix versions. ;D

KTFM was very Dance friendly in the 80's, 90's and early 00's then they flipped to Rock but now their back and sound FANTASTIC!!!!!

Thnks Toney and SA RADIO GUY.. Anyway another few to keep an eye on are 95 SX charleston which has greatly improved since B-92.5 flipped to Hip Hop, but im cool with that as I knew 95 SX would get to sounding hotter, and Charlleston was in need of a real hip hop station. Also cumulous and Radio One here in Indianapolis both have dance heavy mixshows now,, so thats a good thing, and power 96 in Miami and KKFR Phoenix both have dance mixshows now.. I think 2010 is gonna be the year Dance really starts to take off again, i think by 2012 we may have a ton more dance friendly stations. Even 100.7 Mix FM in Terre haute IND, and K-92 in Roanoke VA,, near the home of my EX has Cascada-Evacuate the dancefloor in rotation. So just keep your eyes on the playlists of these and other stations,,, Even KIIS LA and AMP are playling David guetta and LMFAO-No getting over.. And for SAT,,, check out Music Choice Hitlist--lots of dance, and lots of remixes and ultimixes, and Sirius hits one is getting there too.

GO SPURS GO!!!

In Boston we have had NO dance station since the flip of WQSX/Star 93-7 to classic rock-formatted WMKK/93-7 Mike FM. Here's the full list of commercial FM radio in Boston according to my ears:

92.5 WXRV (92.5/The River) - officially AAA, play because it's under the AOR umbrella plays plenty of Led Zep, Aero, AC/DC, Dead, Hendrix, Floyd, Stones, Ozzy, etc.
92.9 WBOS (Radio 92-9) - officially alt-rock, but because it's a Boston alt-rock station, it's also heavy on the groups mentioned in the River's description - in fact more heavy than the River in airplay
93.7 WMKK (93-7/Mike FM) - see top statement
94.5 WJMN (Jam'n 94-5) - nothing but ghetto-oriented hard core gangsta rap
96.9 WTKK - talk
98.5 WBZ-FM (98-5/The Sports Hub) - sports
99.1 WPLM-FM - easy listening
99.5 WCRB - classical - it's supposed to be off the commercial list by now
100.7 WZLX - classic rock (same as 93.7 song for song)
101.7 WFNX - see 92.9 for description - song for song it's the same, including Led Zep and the rest
102.5 WKLB - country
103.3 WODS - recent convert to "classic hits" - basically ripping WZLX off song for song - only disco is on Barry Scott's "Lost 45s" show, and that is somewhere in-between the Partridges, Cher, Osmonds, Tony Orlando, and a phalanx of one-hit wonders
104.1 WBMX (Mix 104-1) - basically grunge rock - basically playing the same songs as the late WBCN - on Friday nights Mix's Back To The 80s only plays alt-rock and hair bands (no dance need apply)
105.7 WROR - same exact classic rock as Mike and WZLX
106.7 WMJX - listed in the trades as easy listening, but plays a lot of Aero, Led Zep, Journey, AC/DC and passes off hard rock anthems as Love Stinks, Walk This Way, Panama and Who Are You (CSI theme) off as easy relaxing soft music
107.3 WAAF (also 97.7 WKAF) - legendary wall-to-wall heavy metal station
107.9 WXKS-FM (Kiss 108) - used to be Boston's dance music station until 1994 - John Ivey sharply changed the culture from dance to hard rock so that listeners could tell the difference between Kiss and then-newly purchased Jam'n 94-5 (the ghetto station) - I have not listened to Kiss since (flipped to Mix until its own rock flip, then to Star until its classic rock flip, now listen to "hate" talk radio on WRKO and WEEI) - reportedly Kiss is either "straight top 40" or back to a modern dance lean similar as that from the Sunny Joe days

I apologize for Boston being such a dance-unfriendly town!

During a tropo opening a few days ago I noticed K104 has Agnes - Release Me in regular rotation. It also had a dance mixshow on Friday night.

We have a dance spinoff of the NYDMC up there! No doubt Boston should have a dance station! No need to apologize :)

I remember back when I visited Boston during the dark ages of my life when I lived in Atlanta and I heard Real McCoy's "run away
for the first time. It was not only my new favorite song, but my theme song of that time in life! Then, of course, Christmas holiday's ended and it was back to Atlanta, where I waited for them to finally discover that Real McCoy had a new hit. They did, and I got to hear their entire 1 verse only edit of the song on WSTR! My Godsister loved Jam'n 94.5 that was all hip hop, r&b, and "The Sign" by Ace of Base. Back then, I was too young to realize and understand what "rhythmic" was and what was actually going on because all I knew was that in Atlanta, they dear wouldn't play Ace of Base on any of their hip hop stations. I also have to give credit to Kiss 108 for playing "luv 4 luv" by Robin S because ever since I had to leave Az. to go back to Atl. once summer vacation started, I really began to miss that song. I was never aware that Kiss changed. Last time I check (sometime in 2007 or so) they had Cascada in their regular playlist.
