One common thing to the Alt format is it's more fractured than other formats. That type of genre works better on a platform where you can narrow-cast.

I know there are a couple of alternative music fans on here. Asking you all only - Do you actually tune into the FM dial for your Alt fix? With the exception of WEQX out of Vermont, all I listen to is XMU and Alt nation on Sirius.

There are some formats that get lots of listeners, but those listeners are not attractive to advertisers. Stations can succeed only by getting a listener group that appeals to potential clients.

i know this isn’t a credible source but there is a brand new instagram page called real1053atl and with a logo similar to the beat. 105.3 is gonna be another urban station from the sound of it.

105.3 would be a very good Urban signal. Programming it would be a challenge. I am sure that iHeart can VT it and put out a good product. But they will have promote it locally which is hard when your on air talent is not local.
How did the old WMAX 105.3 do, when that signal first moved in? They played 80s.
