103.1 billing before MARS-FM

A couple of former staffers have mentioned some things about the 103.1s before MARS-FM came into existance.

Helen Jones stated that the old KOCM Newport Beach would bill around $175,000 a month, while KSRF Santa Monica would bill $60,000 with separate formats consisting of easy listening or beautiful music.

In this day and age could the Newport Beach 103.1 bill $175,000 a month doing an AC/easy listening format/beautiful music format? Is the market still there for affluent music in this part of Orange County or are those days gone with the wind?

What Helen Jones said is true. A year later after the station flipped to The All New Mars FM was billing for both stations, KOCM/KSRF was $30,000.
