WTB: Magnecord or Gates tube preamp

I am looking for a Magnecord PT-6, PT-63 or similar amplifier from their 50's reel-to-reel recorders. I am also interested in Gates remote preamps from the 60's such as MO-3638. Cheap restoration projects are welcome. :)

Yes, I've seen them on eBay and have even layed bids on a few on them. But I always get "sniped" in the last second or so.

Anybody got a schematic for the Magnecord PT6-V preamp? It's got a 12AX7 and a 12AU7 tube, and also a 6X4 rectifier tube. No internal speaker.

It wouldn't be too hard to roll your own.
The old RCA receiving tube manuals all had schematics at the back that were actual RCA designs.
There were some quite simple pre-amp circuits; a few hours at most.
I recall the tape amp was eq'd for 7.5 ips.
If you have the room to spare, 6SN7s, etc sound even better than 12A_7s.

Yes, I will probably look at the circuit and draw a schematic from what I can see. I will then post the drawing here, perhaps it could be of use to somebody.

Thank you for these advices! :) I will look into those RCA tube sheets. My PT6-V has a switch on the front for 7.5 and 15 ips eq curves.

Best Regards

I have a Magnecord tube preamp model P60-0. Have the reel to reel model P60-a with it. I would sell.
