2 Adult Contemporary Markets

With the recent flip of San Diego's KIFM 98.1 Smooth from AC to Soft AC. Are there markets out there that have a least to Adult Contemporary stations (not HOT AC, Urban AC, or Soft AC)? Also, Chicago (Lite 93.9 and 105.9 Fresh FM), New York City (106.7 Lite FM and 102.7 Fresh FM), Kansas City (KUDL 98.1, and Star 102.1), Atlanta (B98.5 and 94.9 Lite FM), Charlotte (K104.7 and 102.9 Lite FM), Miami (97.3 WFLC and 101.5 Lite FM), Toronto ON (97.3 EZ ROCK, and 98.1 Lite FM), Spokane WA (98.1 KISS FM and Classy 99.9) use to have at least 2 AC's stations, now they only have 1.

Charlotte (K104.7 and 102.9 Lite FM)
This is outdated. 102.9 plays "anything". I heard, for example, "You Oughta Know" by Alanis Morissette and "Back and Black" by AC/DC.

107.9 the Link in Charlotte is supposedly Hot AC but the playlist is mostly AC and has a lot of older songs in it.

New York City (106.7 Lite FM and 102.7 Fresh FM)

102.7 WWFS is Hot AC, not regular AC. They are listed as such in the Arbitron ratings.

However, in the early '90s, NYC had three ACs: "Today's 93.1" WPAT, "Mix 105" WMXV, and "Lite FM" WLTW -- four if you counted 930 WPAT (AM), which played the same music as WPAT-FM but was not a simulcast.

Seattle has KRWM 106.9 and a rimshot from Olympia, KXXO 96.1. KXXO's transmitter is on Rooster Rock near Morton, WA and with the elevation, has a 100-mile radius around the area. CHKG kills it by Everett however. But it reaches the ocean beaches, Portland and Seattle. A great coverage area!

Not two in one market, but I live just west of Nashville, and I can of course pick up Mix 92.9 here in Nashville, but I can also get Lite 98.7 out of Hopkinsville, KY. The Hoptown station is probably the more adventurous of the two, but they still carry Delilah. Mix has Tom Kent on the weekends. 98.7 has all-talk programming in the mornings. I have never heard any music played during their morning drive. (They are also more likely to break format to carry college sports.)

Add Detroit to the list of markets which formerly had two ACs and are now down to one, with WMGC (Today's 105.1)'s change to "Detroit Sports 105.1" almost a month ago.
Funny thing is, Detroit was another market that was an AC smorgasbord in the '80s and early '90s. In 1986, in addition to WNIC, the market had 104.3 WOMC, 93.1 WLTI, and 94.7 WMJC, and actually got a FOURTH one that year when WCXI-FM flipped from country to WNTM "92 Music." After WMJC became WCSX, WNTM became WVAE "The Wave" and later Mix 92.3, and WOMC went oldies, Detroit had four ACs again for a few years in the early '90s, following 95.5 WCZY's change to Q95 (starting as a hot AC but then going mainstream AC) and WJOI modifying from beautiful music to what would be called "super-soft AC" today.

As for markets that have two ACs today...
Your mileage may vary on this but I consider Rewind 100.3 to be Chicago's second AC. They don't report as an AC, but I think their playlist is pretty close to what mainstream AC is now, just with a much bigger, more varied and more rock-oriented gold playlist. Just as Fresh 105.9 was on the line between mainstream and hot AC, I think Rewind is on the line between AC and Adult Hits, and to my ears their playlist resembles WLIT's more so than it does any "Jack FM" outlet.
Grand Rapids, MI has Star 105.7 (a Clear Channel Premium Choice outlet) and 100.5 The River, formerly super-soft but now a softer variant of mainstream AC. Since Star's signal also reaches Kalamazoo (which has Midwest's 106.5 WVFM, which leans very classic hits), one could claim Kalamazoo as a two-AC market as well.
Huntsville, AL has Star 99.1 WAHR (formerly a Hot AC) and Lite 96.9 WRSA.
While not a rated market, the Port Huron, MI/Sarnia, ON area has 102.3 WGRT (airs Cumulus' format) and 99.9 The Fox (a hotter, younger-leaning station following the trend of Canadian AC in general, but not really hot AC) plus a true Hot AC (96.9 WBTI). With those plus signals from nearby cities like Detroit, Sandusky (MI), and Chatham, AC listeners in the Blue Water area have a ton of options.
