Could WEAR TV ABC 3 become all news?

Since this board has died I dug deep looking for something that may be interesting to discuss. I've been reading were some of the big 4 OTA network affiliates are dropping syndicated programming and replacing it with more local news. Right now WEAR is carrying over 5 hours of local news a day and they just launched a 9pm newscast on sister station WFGX. Sinclair just bought a regional news network out of D.C. (?) and has announced plans (hopes) of taking it national. So could it be that WEAR is morphing into an ABC/news only station with sister station WFGX carrying MyNet and syndicated programming? Could such a scenario also involve WEAR's "cousin" stations WPMI and WJTC?

Anyway, not radio, but somewhat related. Just throwing this out there looking for some chatter and to try to figure out who hasn't abandon ship.

They could, on a subchannel, 3.3, but on channel 3 itself? No! I do agree, they have a newscast at 4:30 AM!!! Kinda strange!

I don't find the idea of having a local news program at 4:30 a.m. strange, since WALA-TV was the first TV station in the same market (Mobile, Alabama-Pensacola, Florida) to broadcast a local news program at 4:30 a.m. on a regular basis and WLOX-TV in the Biloxi-Gulfport, Mississippi TV market was broadcasting a local news program at 4:30 a.m. on a regular basis before WALA-TV.

As for the idea of having a sub-channel dedicated to news, that would be great for the station's programmers since it would give them the opportunity to use the main channel to broadcast more syndicated programs, other types of local programming, and possibly broadcast "Jimmy Kimmel Live" and "Nightline" in their regular network timeslots (10:35 p.m. and 11:37 p.m.) rather than their regular later timeslots (11:00 p.m. and 12:02 a.m. respectively)

So could it be that WEAR is morphing into an ABC/news only station with sister station WFGX carrying MyNet and syndicated programming?

WFGX-TV has also broadcast programming from ThisTV along with syndicated programs, MyNetworkTV programs, local programs, and Jewelry Television programming on a regular basis. I wish they would broadcast all of ThisTV's programming on a digital sub-channel of its very own since ThisTV would usually provide programming every hour each day.
