Anyone know what the problem is with WJIB AM 740.
It is off the air.

Did Bob Bitner not get enough money in his summer fund raising and shut the station down ????

No, I am serious. WJIB has not been on-air all morning. Not at a radio now. Perhaps, it was a technical problem.

I want Bob Bitner's effort to succeed.

This is not a troll !!

I noted that WJIB was off at ~2:00AM this morning, but it sounded as if the carrier were on. Couldn't tell for sure, though. Now it's 1:15PM in the early afternoon and WJIB is still not on, although I can't tell whether the carrier is on or not (the nearby radio is picking up too much electrical noise).

The appropriate Shakespeare quote is Hamlet, " .... to be; or not to be; that is the question..."

the more appropriate quote to reply to "stirring the pot" is one with caldroun (kettle or pot) in it.
hence.......the result of stirring would be "Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn, and cauldron bubble". ...from Macbeth

It's amazing what people assume when a one-man station goes off the air due (most likely) to a technical problem that couldn't be dealt with immediately with the limited personnel resources that it has.

yea, Bob does an amazing job but some people just have to get out the big ole spoon and start stirring ..... I never did understand that mindset. Technical issue was what I thought.

I was at the old and defunct WMRE when it went talk.
When the station went off the air for technical difficulties....they ran out of scotch tape ... the program director, the infamous Jack Roberts, told Doug Stefen to go in the studio and announce they were ' off the air...' ;-)

Ah! Of course these days with streaming, a station can go off air on terrestrial but stay on via Web. Some months ago WRKO went off air for a half hr during Howie's show but listeners knew he might still be on other affiliates like WCRN. Yup he was and Sandy told listeners when RKO got back on. I remember the farewell party for WMRE at the Breakfast Club (Boylston and Brookline) which served breakfast items--spotted Bob Katzen, Christopher Lydon (not on MRE but was just there
...they put WMRE on speakers, running Late Show w Joan Rivers. Ch 25, then owned by Pat Robertson, refused to run the show so 1510 picked up the audio. The name of Jack Roberts was mentioned on the show
