"Are You Being Served?" is being pulled from PBS stations

Good heavens, I haven't seen that program in a couple of years, but what a funny one!

It was there before while being on PBS stations at the same time. There was some talk about a spin-off network of BBC America called GOLD (Go On, Laugh Daily) but you would think other Britcoms would be pulled from circulation if this happened.

How many PBS stations were still carrying 'AYBS?' In San Francisco, it was very popular on KQED, which aired the show for most of the '90s, but they dropped it shortly after the turn of the millennium, and the other, smaller, PBS stations in the area eventually followed suit. I haven't seen it on TV since the short-lived BBC America run. The entire series, plus the spinoff, 'Grace and favour' also known as 'Are You Being Served? Again!' is available on Youtube, and I've noticed that there are scenes included that were edited for time on PBS.

Are You Being Served? I think was airing on KBTC (or is still). KCTS used to air Britcoms every night at 11pm. Sometimes it was Yes, Prime Minister, sometimes Keeping Up Appearances....

Whatever will we do without Mrs. Slocombe and her *****? ;)

AYBS has been on here in the Boston area, and Rhode island steadily for the past 20 years. In my mothers opinion, those responsible were "Weak as water, WEAK as water" and she was unanimous in that. All kidding aside, It was a great show and will be missed.
I believe I read that It was David Crofts estate agent that has pulled the plug on the licensing for whatever reasoning. The show itself might be a bit dated by todays standards, but not by much. You can watch them time and time again and they are still funny as ever.
My elderly mother has threatened not again to send in a donation to PBS. I hope its brought back somewhere, fairly soon.

Oh yes, those elderly mothers love that stuff. Mine always had a beer and some nosh on hand for her "stories" (C-Span, C-Span 2, AYBS, Keeping Up Appearances, Jerry Springer) were on.
