Looking for A Replacement HD-Radio?

In late 2007 I bought a Radio Sophy for a gal I am dating-and-I got myself
an xdr-f3hd from SONY. Some years ago I added a tiny Insignia walkman.
Most of these have quite good selectivity.
Well, my SONY xdr-f3hd its station dial is in such bad shape,
it is quite frustrating DXing during an E season. SONY didn't seem to have replacement parts.
A Broadcasting engineer friend fixed the mechanism last November,
but it didn't last. So this frustrating dial would be a major
reason for wanting something better.
In a better HD-Radio, I would hope for less or no muting while
on a weak or blank frequency. I mean, this SONY has quite
lo whitenoise.
I like the fact that this SONY reserves slots of HD signals
its found, which my other hd-radios won't do.
Also, while the SONY is an only one of these with tone-controlls,
I would still like better highs in a tabletop.
So the $million questions? Are their hd-radios available or even in auction sites
which will match what I'm looking for? Also, since I am totally blind, a simple interface
would be wonderful, without buttons which double as multiple functions.

HD is a failure in the marketplace. Hold onto your xdr-f3hd - even a broken one will be worth a lot on ebay. I could probably fix it - but repairs may not be cheap, it depends on what I find when I get in there.

Once in a while a new / old model becomes available somewhere on clearance - keep an eye out for sales. Some people buy aftermarket HD car radios and adapt them for home use with 12V supplies, car antennas, and speakers. Ugly, but effective.
 
Yes and most new consumer items are made to be thrown away when broken unfortunately, it is usually cheaper to buy a new one than to fix your old one. There are HD radios on ebay although why anyone would still want one is beyond me.

The only reason those Sonys are such good DX units is because HD radio reception is so poor it takes an outstanding DX unit just to get lock on local HD stations.
