107.7 The Franchise

Ironically, I'm Friends on Facebook with ex-95Xer Geno Pearson, and a station in his current market just flipped from FM sports to a seriously-crazy Jack tack, much more all-over-the-map than the Tylers' old Jack version was. (This one I think is locally programmed, while our old Jack was satellite).

As sports radio brandings go, this one's pretty bad.

Have to disagree. I kinda like it. The Franchise has a nice ring to it. "The Sports Animal" sounds small market and their logo is a mess, in my opinion. But that's all it is...my opinion. Different strokes for different folks. I think The Franchise will force TSA to up its game. The competition could mean a better product for listeners. Gotta like that.

KRXO is one of the better stations in the Oklahoma City market. The change to sports is gutsy considering all the other stations playing the same format. I love sports and will give it a chance, but am initially skeptical of this move. Let's see what happens.

A sports station in Salt Lake City was "The Franchise" several years ago. I don't think the brand lasted very long, but I'm not sure when it changed to "K-Fan."

That's pretty funny, considering KRXO is one of 3 Classic Rock stations in the market.

It's almost the end of the first broadcast week and no one has anything to say about the franchise. Is it possible that no one is listening?

What the franchise needs is closed captioning. Maybe that would make it more interesting and people would actually talk about it.

The toe has spoken.

It sucks.I was a daily krxo listener in Tulsa. I have now turned my antenna east towards KIGL for classic rock. I could care less about sports talk unless it's thunder.

It is my opinion that DjNotNot has said what many people think, yet are apprehensive to say. It sucks. It must suck, else people would be saying positive things about it. And if the broadcast professionals that visit this forum daily don't have anything good to say about it, then it has to suck.

I cast my vote for 'it sucks'.

The toe has voted.

Jiminy Christmas......Just out of my own curiosity, I typed in www.1077thefranchise.com and what did I get?

Somebody fumbled with this one guys.

I was wondering what Tyler was thinking launching another sports station in a market already so crowded with them.

I have heard credible rumors that Tyler is going to be launching an alternative rock station soon but don't know the frequency. I wonder if they will put it on 107.7? It also may not be a bad idea to put Now 96.5 on 107.7 and go head to head with KJ 103.

I am in disbelief at what I am seeing with these stations. I don't know what else to say. It's like every decision being made is determined by a coin toss. I wonder if the remaining renda people are shaking their heads in confusion because of such bizarre changes being made at the expense of their own.

It sure seems like some of this stuff associated with the changes weren't thought out too terribly well. Lots of things seems to have fallen between the cracks on their execution of the launch, move of "KRXO", and further operation of those properties. Streaming issues (or lack of), web site, and the list goes on and on. I'm not the guy trying to pay for it all, so I defer to his judgment to some degree. But on the surface it certainly seems that details weren't their strong point or maybe even focus when making changes.
