Fox extends MyNetworkTV for two more years

http://www.deadline.com/2013/09/fox-stations-mynetworktv-contract-extention/

NEW YORK – FOX Television Stations extends the MyNetworkTV programming service for an additional two years, through the 2015-16 season, announced Greg Meidel, President of Twentieth Television. MyNetworkTV, with programming Monday through Friday, airs on the FOX Television Stations in each of the top 3 markets including New York (WWOR My9), Los Angeles (KCOP My 13), and Chicago (WPWR My 50). Additional markets include Dallas (KDFI My27), D.C. (WDCA My20), Houston (KTXH My20), Phoenix (KUTP My45), Minneapolis (WFTC My29), Orlando (WRBW My65), and Charlotte (WMYT MyTV12). The 2013-14 schedule of MyNetworkTV launches on September 30th and includes the addition of the hit FOX series, “Bones” and the return of “Law & Order: CI.” Back-to-back episodes of “Law & Order: SVU” air each Monday night and a two-hour block of the award-winning series “House” on Thursday and “Monk” on Friday nights.

Here's a better idea - PUT ON SOME ORIGINAL PROGRAMMING (Or at least import some Canadian produced stuff)

That's what ION does

Cheers & 73 :)

Some sitcoms would be nice. Also no more double runs. That would allow for more programming. And maybe even a new name. Fox Plus anyone?

MyNetwork and ION are two of the worst over the air networks ever. They have the most useless programming these days. What really bugs me is my MeTV affiliate shares space with MyNetwork, so MyN has to be shown during primetime instead of MeTV, which means I don't get to see Gilligan's Island. ION is even worse. They only show paid programming in the mornings then have 10 hours of the same stupid crime dramas everyday. I don't know why they don't get more programming. I wish they would both leave.

My local MyNetworkTV station (WFGX-TV in the Mobile, Alabama-Pensacola, Florida TV market) probably would have continued to broadcast syndicated programs, local programs, and Jewelry Television programming over ThisTV programming (WFGX-TV is an affiliate of ThisTV also) even if the FOX Television Stations group had not extended their commitment to MyNetworkTV.

If Leno were to leave NBC for Fox, it wouldn't be for a show on MyNetwork TV dude. YOU CAN BANK ON THAT !!!

Cheers & 73 :)

Here's an idea: Since Jay Leno is leaving NBC in early 2014, why not have him on My Network TV next fall?

Were that to occur, Jay Leno would be on My Network TV for only seven months, since at the end of that time, he'd be back at NBC, replacing Jimmy Fallon on "The Tonight Show".

:)

(Of course, it is a joke)

In all seriousness, would My Network TV want a five-nights-a-week Jay Leno show considering his five-nights-a-week show at NBC in the Fall of 2009 was a huge flop??

If My Network TV wanted to give Leno a one-hour, once-a-week big-budget comedy/variety show in the traditional comedy/variety format, that would be a different story. It's something that could work (although it such a show would have a better chance of success on NBC).

I agree that My Network TV needs first-run programming (at least to U.S. viewers), but they would have to "think outside the box".

MY NETWORK TV could use a new line-up of original shows and could air original programming. like all the pilots that didnt get picked up on ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, THE CW, could of been on my network tv so people still could see those shows and maybe get my network tv off the ground. As for as ION it could really use a facelift and be a network totally tuned into everything tv with paid programming phased out and air programming blocks of classic cartoons, game shows, comedy's, soap operas, talk shows, reality shows, crime drama shows, variety programming, and thrillers.

This is to be expected. This network is doing exactly what it was supposed to do: inexpensively fill the 2 hour prime-time block on the Fox owned stations that used to be UPN affiliates. From the only info we have the ratings are decent and the affiliates (and Fox) are probably making money on this venture.

Don't look for costly original programming to be put on My Network TV - ever again. They've been down that road and it didn't work out. Look for this to be a rerun network from here on out, just like Ion.
