The Dorothy factor at CH:5

"EyeOpener says farewell to Dorothy"

It will be interesting to see whether WBZ (others) can make a dent in the morning ratings lead of WCVB now that the formidable Ms Krysiuk is gone.

So Dorothy was the reason they were # 1 in the morning? IMHO, WCVB is not the morning ratings leader due to the traffic reporter, and if they are, that is a very sad commentary on today's society.

I left WCVB years ago in all day parts. IMO, they were becoming more fluff than news which was an abrupt departure from what they built their reputation on in the past. I know that all news stations nowadays are more about the 30 second soundbite and news from the entertainment world but when WCVB would have stories about the winner of "Dancing with the Stars" as one of their lead stories I said bye-bye forever.

She left the station in early July.

I'm well aware of when she left. Now that summer is over ratings get serious again. I think her absence will be a factor.

5 "is not the morning ratings leader due to the traffic reporter,"

Never said they were.
Mornings are different. We'll see if there's a change in numbers in Nov.

She left her job at Westwood One/Metro Networks (not a WCVB employee) shortly after becoming engaged. It was said that she was leaving to have more time with her fiance' and plan the wedding... Nothing exciting.

So all they want is "eye candy" to do the traffic now. WCVB has become just like all the other stations. It's all about the presentation and not the content.

Personally, I would rather have Cindy Campbell back.

I disagree that WCVB is all fluff. On recent days when WBZ and WHDH kicked off their newscast with Stories about Baseball, WCVB actually kicked off their newscast with stories of substance. Not baseball games. I'll take all the good looking eye candy that they dish out. Nothing wrong with that. At least they seem to have their priorities straight.
