CNN, HLN, TCM, TBS, TNT all gone.

Call Cable One, avoid their automated message and leave a personal message on your dissatisfaction, if you do indeed harbor this. 1-877-692-2233

CableOne has a different perspective on this:

"Earlier today, we sent you an email letting you know that we had removed Turner Network channels CNN, CNN en Espanol, Headline News, Turner Classic Movies, TruTV (where available), and Boomerang at 9 a.m. MST today from our channel line-up following the expiration of the Cable ONE/Turner Network contract.
Following this announcement, Turner Network deauthorized signals to TNT, TBS, and the Cartoon Network, despite the fact that Cable ONE has a valid contract to continue carriage of these channels. It is unfortunate that Turner Network has chosen to punish our customers by deauthorizing the signals for these channels so that you will no longer receive them. We believe that they have deauthorized these channels in retaliation for us dropping their less popular programming.
We have made every effort to reach an equitable deal with Turner. However, they have demanded an increase of nearly 50% for channels with steadily declining ratings. Turner has refused our counter proposal to pay a fee that is more than fair for these channels.
Cable ONE will be crediting our customers for the time these channels were missing. You do not need to call in to receive your credit – we will automatically apply a credit to your next billing statement.
We want to thank you for your understanding while we continue to negotiate with Turner to reach an agreement that is fair for everyone.
Please visit www.stopprogramminghikes.com/turner for updates on this negotiation.

Best regards,
Cable ONE"

Most of these disputes are ultimately repaired. However, this one is a little sticky. Apparently, as mentioned above, Turner refused even an extension. However, Cable One is the 10th largest cable system in the country. While they specialize in smaller markets, I can't believe Turner would turn their backs on these smaller markets, where they thrive. I still would express my dissatisfaction with this to Cable One, but also would remind that both sides have points. Perhaps Cable One, being in smaller markets, find the rates more out of line than larger companies. However, this is what media is all about. You pay for viewers. If Cable One loses a certain number of subscribers because of this it is a net loss. I would expect a compromise will be reached, but both sides need to understand that these channels are important to cable tv service.

And you know how people express their dissatisfaction? By calling their customer care line which has absolutely no effect on anything other than sending their call queues into the stratosphere causing hour and a half wait times. Sure- call some 14 dollar an hour phone drone who has nothing better to do than listen to grandma whine and complain, meanwhile a customer who really needs help with an issue setting up their service can't get through. Send your complaints to Turner! They're the ones holding the bag. Whining to their call center does NOTHING - there is no Cable One "suit" listening in on the call. All the call center's job is is numbers. Want to complain to Cable Co? Contact their corporate office, in WRITING. The call center is there to help customers, with valid problems. They get stuck with HUGE fines if calls aren't picked up in matter of seconds, hence the call tree. More calls in queue = GIANT bills for cable co, means LESS money for channel packages.

Customers think cable providers are swimming in big piles of money. Somewhere online and I am too lazy to look right now- there is a PDF file floating around with list prices of what cable providers pay for each channel and or package. Frankly, I don't know how cable co's stay in business! Cable One took on areas that other CATV providers didn't want, I'm sure it was because they aren't that lucrative.

Maybe the customer who can't get help will cancel their Cable One & switch to satellite/OTA.. and maybe if Cable One knows that, they'll be more willing to pay for the services they're reselling. The financial reports I'm seeing suggest that cable providers *are* swimming in big piles of money...

CableOne is also an ISP and a dial tone provider. Around here they can give you 70 Mb speed.
Stream what you want to see.
Streaming MLB playoff's are NOT free, even if you click on one of the "free" links.
Mallware city and/or you get even more spam.

My spouse USED to work for Cable One LLC, and although I'm not now, I spent over 10 years of my life working in CATV industry. Regardless of financial reports (which are questionable but for another topic/forum entirely)- they are NOT swimming in money. I am surprised they stay afloat, I really don't know how they do it. I have no impetus in sticking up for any CATV operators, so my apologies for them are sincere. I no longer work for, represent, nor benefit in any way by stating my opinion. When I worked in Houston for (then TimeWarner, now Comcast) I was told- point blank- that the real money came from those cable porn rentals, that run what, 6.99 and up per episode? I could go on and on how much CATV providers give away for free including tech service, lip service on their phones- techs that come out in their trucks to screw in a loose coax connexion because the customer "doesn't know how to do that techie stuff" oh that's just minor. Oh- and the FREE computer tech support at minimum half hour call on cable co's dime- they hand out to ignorant and angry customers who demand that because they "pay" for their internet through them that that guarantees free support for stupid stuff like setting up client email (who uses that anymore?) to walking Old Gramps on how to connect to the internet.. oh don't get me started. I still have angry, bitter memories of cable tv company horrors.

In Yesterday's Fargo Forum one of the Letters to the Editor was complaining How bad Cable One is and wanting Midcontinent to take over the
cable franchise in the City Of Fargo. Last Year, They Have A bad reputation of not picking up every North Dakota State Football Game due to
them not offering ESPN3 Online

I really don't know who holds the higher cards here, I just know consumers of Cable One are being screwed. Is it Turner, or is it Cable One? I really don't know. But this is really a no-win situation for both parties. Unless this gets settled soon, I will be an ex-Cable One subscriber. I don't care whose fault it is...I just want my channels. The current impasse is major, effecting MLB and Conan. If I can get that via other media, I will. Pure and simple. I am not taking sides. I just request there be an agreement. If not, I am a gone as a Cable One subscriber.

Turner and Cable One have reached an agreement and all missing stations will be reinstated on the system over the next few days.
