Nielsen Ratings Week 1

Got this in part from a Canadian source and part from ABC News.
NBC has gotten off to a strong start; although CBS won the week,
NBC is number one in the 18-49 demographic. The good news for
NBC is "Sunday Night Football" and "The Voice." Of course, this is
a repeat of last year, when NBC's season collapsed with the end of
football and "The Voice." NBC expects better this year with the
Winter Olympics.

For CBS, "The Big Bang Theory" scored its hghest rating ever, helped
by Robin Williams' "The Crazy Ones," which debuted at #6. ABC seems
to have a winner in "Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.," the second-highest-
rated drama among 18-49-year-olds after the "Breaking Bad" finale.

CBS is concerned about Monday night; "2 Broke Girls" finished 34th, while
ESPN's coverage of the Raiders-Broncos game actually ranked #10. Also,
Michael J. Fox's much-touted show on NBC managed only 43rd.

The top 20:

1. NFL Football: New England-Atlanta (NBC)
2. The Big Bang Theory (starting at 8:31) (CBS)
3. NCIS (CBS)
4. The Big Bang Theory (CBS)
5. NCIS: Los Angeles (CBS)
6. The Crazy Ones (CBS)
7. Sunday Night NFL Pre-Kick (NBC)
8. The Voice (Monday) (NBC)
9. The Voice (Tuesday) (NBC)
10. NFL Football: Oakland-Denver (ESPN)
11. Dancing With The Stars (ABC)
12. The OT (Fox)
13. The Blacklist (NBC)
14. Person Of Interest (CBS)
15. Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. (ABC)
16. Blue Bloods (CBS)
17. Modern Family (ABC)
18. Two And A Half Men (9:31) (CBS)
19. Castle (ABC)
20. Football Night In America (NBC)

At least one show, ABC's "Lucky 7," appears headed for a quick demise.
Also, "The Voice" is scoring better demographics than "Dancing With The Stars";
the average age of "The Voice"'s audience is 48; "DWTS" is 62.

Up tonight is the debut of "Super Fun Night" on ABC, following "Modern Family."
We'll see if "Modern Family"'s strong lead-in carries over.

Why is cable being thrown into this list? Usually in USA Today, the ratings list is for broadcast networks only.

I think the season debut of MNF was carried on ABC. ESPN produced it so perhaps that's why it's credited that way.

I want to know why USA Today didn't print ratings last week, or if they did, where are they? Today's paper hadn't come in when I left the library to go home.

What is it about NCIS that keeps it a ratings winner? I find it formulaic and dull. The cast is good, but I got tired of their interplay after about 10 shows.

The line between cable and broadcast is pretty blurred nowadays, is it not? Do viewers and advertisers still care?
