"American Dad" joined in progress

I tape all the Fox Animation Domination comedies and this past Sunday there was football where "American Dad" was supposed to be. Until about halfway through.

Fortunately I think I had seen the episode, based on what little was left. I was worried because in the past they went ahead and started late, causing me to miss parts of some shows when I didn't know what was going to happen.

You can always find the episode on Hulu or Fox On Demand after it airs. Episodes usually get uploaded the day after airing.

I wasn't really interested in how to find it this time, but just commenting on what was done, since the last time a game went over, they started the shows late.

Last night it was "The Simpsons", specifically the first of three Treehouse of Horror episodes.

I would like to know why they even have 4:00 games if they know they are going to air these.

I remember people being surprised when Paula Poundstone's show was a flop. Well, of course it will be if people in the East never get to see it.

Really wish Fox would air "The OT" during singleheader weekends too, from 7-8 ET. Markets getting 4:05 games could join it in progress after the game.

On weeks where Fox only carries 1 game, there has to be an option for a 4 pm game, because they may not be able to air a 1 pm game.

For example, here in Cleveland, when the Browns play at 1 pm on CBS (WOIO-19) , the Fox affiliate (WJW-8) can't have a game opposite it (per NFL rules).

Therefore, if it's a Fox single game week, a game must be available at 4 pm for WJW to air.

If the local team plays, there can be no game opposite it in the team's primary market.

The 7 pm shows on Fox are usually reruns that they can afford to not air in entirety.

Now if a game were to go past 8 pm on a Fox doubleheader week, Fox would then air all the scheduled shows (starting with "The Simpsons", and then everything else down the line) in their entirety after the game.

I think fox does it much better then CBS. Atleast fox was smart enough not to program the 7:00PM hr with new primetime programs. They either have the OT, or rerun other fox programs. So they can use the 1/2hr pillow to either join in progress or skip completely.

CBS on the otherhand has 60 minutes at 7:30, which always seems to start late when theirs a 4:00PM game, thus effecting their lineup for the entire night. Also, I think they only schedule 60 minutes for 7:30 when they have a doubleheader. So on weeks that they have a single game, but your local CBS shows a 4:00PM, your primetime schedule is often off by a good 40+ minutes.

It used to be "King of the Hill" and "Futurama" that would get bumped or joined in progress, when Fox aired them.

On doubleheader weeks, the 2nd game doesn't kick off until 4:25 pm, so if all goes right, the game ends at 7:30.

But of course, it rarely ever goes right, and between timeouts, replays, referee reviews, and commercial cramming, a clean 7:30 end time is few and far between.

The Panthers lost again. Usually they do this in a 1:00 game. I'm in their home market. I don't know why the game was at 4 this week.
