WMAK call letters return, and HANK FM to debut in Tennessee!

Whiplash Radio/Last of a Dying Breed Broadcasting is building the FM CP at 101.3 licensed to Linden, TN. The format will be classic country with Kroger Media's HANK FM.

Cat Country 1570 licensed to Lobelville will change formats to classic hits as Solid Gold 16 WMAK (securing the old Nashville call letters)

101.3 HANK FM will debut on Saturday, October 5th with offices/studios in downtown Linden, including a Hank Williams collectables outlet.

Nashville needs a Hank FM. We have a Jack FM and it works great. Now bring Hank FM!! No one listens to AM anymore, radios that you buy don't even provide AM anymore. Bring on something new Nashville.

Why are you calling it "Solid Gold 16" if the actual frequency is 1570? Stations haven't "rounded off" their frequencies like that in over 20 years. Everyone is digital now. Almost no one has an analog radio anymore. This will only confuse listeners and make it hard for them to find your station.

The imaging handles it. Tired of doing radio the way its done now. It sucks, and I'll do things the way I want to do them. Thank you!

and...when the Solid Gold tunes were being played originally...the stations DID "round off" the frequency. continuity 101.
makes sense to me to also do it now with the format.

Okay, but don't blame me if listeners can't find you. And I am hoping that you actually plan on using the WMAK call letters. Too many stations make too big of a deal out of getting certain "heritage" call letters, only to bury them within commercials once an hour, and only then for their legal ID.

The call letters are out front including in WMAK jingles. Don't need to edge closer to Nashville at 101.3, when I buy out my competition edging closer to Nashville. It all takes time, but the wheels are in motion.

Doesn't sound like it will be the "Mighty" MAK. But, sometimes the original Mighty MAK barely made the county line.

The last song played on Cat Country 1570 was George Strait's "My Baby's Gotten Good At Goodbyes", and then 1570 morphed into Solid Gold 16 WMAK. On the air now in Lobelville, Linden, and Perry County, TN with the oldies of the 60's, 70's and 80's.

Next time I'm in the area, I'll have to tune it in with my newly installed factory Nissan wideband* AM Stereo receiver.

*wideband compared to other factory radios of late.

Wondering why all the stations out in the hinterlands feel like they must become Nashville "move-ins." That said, I believe that we are due for a "hippie replacement," referencing the last station from your neck of the woods which became a Nashville "move-in."

Whose talking a move in? I didn't stay that. I said moving closer to Nashville possibly purchasing stations in that direction. WMAK can't be moved any way.

You said "buying out my competition edging closer to Nashville." While that does not necessarily imply a "move-in," it does suggest that maybe you aren't satisfied owning just one small-town station. Maybe you should establish your own stations first before looking to acquire others. Still, I am wondering how much of a heritage the WMAK call letters have that far out from Nashville. Oldies 96.3 added the WMAK call letters, but other than saying "WMAK" every time they opened the mic, nothing really changed there. Their logo remained the same (I still have their license plate and key chain, among other things); they never added "WMAK" to any of their station merchandise. And the WMAK calls haven't been anywhere in the Nashville area since Oldies 96.3 became "Jack." I believe that "WMAK" was last heard around Knoxville somewhere before you acquired those calls.
