101.5 is on the air

Is this station at it's maximum ERP of 5700 Watts now? If it isn't when will it be?

They filed for the license to cover on February 12th. There's no reason why it wouldn't be running in it's final configuration transmission-wise.

As previously mentioned, it's a Class A @ 328 feet HAAT.

I live in Rocklin and it gets noisy (as to be expected) once you start going through the foothills. No matter what way you look at it, 101.5 is a reach in. I still like the idea of 92.1/101.5 as a simulcast. They really compliment each other and cover the market quite nice together.

In Elk Grove a little Sony clock radio with about a foot of bell wire for an antenna picks it out nicely between 101.1 and 101.9. No stereo to contend with of course.

KMJE signal seems consistently stronger than 104.3 in east Sac county. Not sure if its the higher ERP or 6bay antenna catching the fringe better.

KAMB is blasting over ALL of Stockton. No sign of KMJE. Not sure about Lodi though.

I find it puzzling that they haven't done anything with it yet. Even if they decided to use it for simulcast purposes, they would have promoted it on air. Could it be that they're spinning it off or selling both stations? Could they be selling them to Lotus? Lotus right now is entering the market with a stand-alone AM. Is Spanish in the future? Lotus is heavily into Spanish, but also does general market radio as well.

They're still branding as "92.1 K-Hits", but the Legal ID now includes "KMJE Woodland". At first, I expected the simulcast only to last a week or so; enough time to tweak the audio and whatever else for the new facility. I've heard audio dropouts on 101.5; they must be using a T1 or something other than microwave STL. Strange. Funny thing is, with the tower build delays Results has had PLENTY of time to get the programming side of this ready. Unless??

Just came back from 10 days of travel. When I landed at SMF, the first thing I did was flip on 101.5 to see if they've done anything. Still puzzled on what they plan to do. I imagine they've already done their proof.

I guess they don't want to launch a new format or spend any money until they confirm they're not interfering with anything or anyone. About 5 years ago, K-LOVE launched a new class A signal on 99.5 FM in Citrus Heights. In the first few weeks, they discovered a potential for "theoretical interference" on an VOR landing frequency at Mather Field. They went dark after only a few weeks of broadcast. This was done after weeks of promotion and a lot of money spent on marketing. It took years to rectify that situation and I'm sure Results doesn't want to make the same mistake nor do they have the kind of cash to make that mistake.

Something I realized - Results has made no mention whatsoever of the 101.5 frequency. If they were keeping the simulcast, we'd be hearing 92.1 & 101.5 branding.

I think Stewie is on to something. We could probably consider this a soft launch of 101.5 while they wait for the dust to settle before revealing the new station.

Here we are about 36 days from when KMJE signed on the air in Woodland. I looks like CP has expired or transitioned as the station now longer shows a CP or the license from the Buttes.

Does anyone on this board have any idea how kccl is doing in ratings? Does this supposed better signal deliver? I know before Arbitron stopped showing their numbers they were consistently in the 135k range with weekly cume 6+. Has that grown at all?

And I only get to listen to a little bit of sacramento radio when I'm driving back and forth to Tahoe on weekends. Which classic hits sounds better to you who live there year round... kccl or khlx? I stream a little bit but I know it is not the same experience as listening on the radio.

How much longer can sacramento have two classic hits stations?

I see KCCL in it for the long run. KHLX is prettly unlistenable, in my opinion, mainly due to the horrible audio quality. Whether its processing or source audio, its just BAD and I find it ridiculous CC has not improved it. That said, both stations have pretty tight playlists - never do I hear any "oh wow" songs on either frequency. KCCL seemed to expand their library a bit with some gold AC after moving to 101.5 and taking on the "Greatest Hits" moniker. Still, there is always room for improvement.

Agree Big D, they're in it for the long run and they definitely have a more "live and local" feel. I stand behind a comment I made on one of these threads. I have a feeling CC will sell off KHLX in the near future.
