KNNK Dimmitt sold for $75k

A little over 4k in population in Dimmitt itself. Another 40k when including Hereford, Friona, Bovina and Canyon, all of which KNNK serves.

Ok, it's been slow, Chuck. Just trying to drum up a little activity.

I long for the days of navigating through the endless Lubbock threads that used to dominate the ol' Texas board.

It s been slow alright. I suspect that is mostly because this forum seems to have taken a poison pill when it was "rebuilt" a few weeks ago. For me, it is hard to read and much worse to navigate than before. Since over-all activity is down a lot, I must not be the only one who thinks so.

As for KNNK, I wish the new owners all the best. I hope they do good things with it. It is possible to do OK with a small station in a small community. It just takes a lot of work. For a lot of people, that' their dream and I fully support that. I seem to have had that same dream.

The low selling price sounds relatively reasonable for the station's potential. There is more to life than just making a lot of money.

I find the new design okay but why did they have to update it? We were doing just fine with the old one. LOL I know they added in lots of new stuff but I just come here to read the forum, not to use all these extra features nobody's on. Haha.

Only really big improvement is how easy it is to reply now, the page doesn't have to refresh or anything.

75K sounds like a deal to me. Those small towns, especially in that part of the USA, tend to be pretty supportive of their local stations. I could see them capable of doing about 25k a month in a few years if they do school sports and take an active part in the community. The outlying areas can mean revenue as well plus with any luck you might get a little agency money if you can get a local wheel to do a little squeaking up the corporate ladder. I won't be easy but I'm rather try there than a big town. Nobody gets that. If you're in a city of 250,000 that revenue is split among all the stations but in a small town like this, chances are you are it, so you get the whole pie, albeit a much smaller pie but many times that pie is as big or bigger than the slice you get in the city. The illusion is the sky is the limit in the city while there's a low cloud in the small town. Still the amount below the cloud is substantial and easier to get, more like picking fruit at ground level versus climbing the ladder to fetch the perfect apple on that high branch.
