Louisville Radio Ratings

That's not right. WHAS/WAMZ has been #1 and #2 every book since sometime in 1985 or earlier.

WRKA was #1 in 1 book at some point- 83 or 84. I wasn't around. (I was out of the market from 79-86)

If DJX made it to number 1 it was in the early 80s.

WLOU had a number one book around 82 or 83 then RKA had their number one book. Beyond that it has been WHAS and WAMZ. I seem to remember WVEZ spiking to number one in 1980 with WAKY having their last up and good book was in second place. Gleason's history site have the old Duncan books with numbers for more details.

That would be hard since WDJX did not start until August 1985!
What I found in my notes was that WDJX was #2 in the Spring of 1989 with a 15.3 and 13.6 in the Summer of 1989.
In both ratings WAMZ was #1 and WHAS was #3.It was big news at the time because WHAS was not in the top two.

Do you think that might have been in some demo other than 12+? I'm thinking so.

For one thing, I can remember in the 90s WHAS jocks crowing on the air about how WHAS and WAMZ were #1 and #2 again, and had been that way forever. (And at the time they mentioned how long "forever"was... and it was a really long time.)

For another thing, when WAMZ started getting 14-15 shares 12+ in 2002-2003, none of us had seen numbers like that in Louisville since... well before the mid 80s.

It's completely believable that DJX did a 15.3 and was #2 18-34 at some point. In fact, I kinda remember that, though not sure of the demo.

Those were the 12+ ratings.I used to buy Billboard Magazine when the Louisville ratings were in there.I then would copy them down in a notebook.I have most of the ratings from Summer 1987-Winter 2001.
