NBC Messes UP in ABQ

Don't know about anywhere else in the country but NBC messed up here in ABQ. In place of Grimm they ran the first 15 minutes of Dracula and then went directly into the middle of Grimm. Dracula started over at the beginning in it's normal time. May have to stream Grimm :)

I believe NBC has a separate Mountain Time Zone feed, so perhaps KOB-TV was inadvertently on the Eastern/Central feed. Had it been an error originating at NBC network operations, you would think that other MDT stations would have had the same problem.

And as a further thought to my previous post: If KOB-TV programming is centralcast or hubbed from another location, it is entirely possible that the control hub (which would be handling many station feeds) could have routed the wrong NBC feed back to ABQ and easily overlooked it. With no human beings in the KOB master control, the error would have gone on until an actual human at KOB (perhaps someone in the news dept) looked up at an air monitor and realized the wrong show was airing. Of course, they would have to go through the headache of trying to contact another actual human at the hub operation, which might not be easy.

Automation works great...except when it doesn't.

Fortunately, thanks to the networks money saving maneuvers, Grimm will be repeated tonight. All is not lost - but that was a different show :)

My DVR has problems with time zones for those stations that don't have separate feeds (e.g. CNN). Doesn't know what to do about the time conversion. But then I am living in 'America's most neglected time zone' (per a local DJ) by choice.

only the Eastern time zone gets attention on New Year's Eve

It slides by most people when they announce, or show, '8 Eastern/7 Central' or a variation with Pacific thrown in as well. Where is Mountain Time :) BTW, where I am MT, is CT so maybe it would be nice if someone did '8 Central and Mountain'. Never happen.

I have seen various network promos over the years that state "Tonight at 8, 7 Central and Mountain".

For live events seen in all time zones, networks will mention Eastern and Pacific ("See our live coverage of the final Space Shuttle launch Friday at 11 A.M. Eastern, 8 A.M. Pacific"), but sometimes not other time zones. Nevertheless, this will imply that viewers in the Central time zone would have to tune in an hour earlier than Eastern time; and Mountain time zone viewers two hours earlier than Eastern time.

Actually, I feel slighted here on central time, because when actors make guest appearances on talk shows, they always tell us what time EASTERN TIME that their show airs. Never an allowance for those other time zones. But being here in central, I always know to drop an hour from whatever time I hear given for the eastern time airing. But it is actually great for me because I get to see shows an hour "earlier" than the eastern timers, and I do not have to stay up as late (in relation to the rest of my day) to see primetime programming.
