Licensing my internet streaming

In the USA, you can "Go it alone" and license directly with the PROs (Expensive but offers the most freedom) or sign up with Live365, LoudCity or Streamlicensing. I have a little bias because I help LoudCity with tech support and have been a broadcaster there since 2005, but each service has similarities and differences.
All are affordable and hassle-free compared to licensing directly.
As for which one is "better" that's like asking whether Android is better than iOS. It's a matter of opinion. I'd just encourage you to get your broadcast up and tested, then visit the provider websites and contact them directly with questions. Some offer free trials so you might sign up with more than one provider and keep the one you like best... Good luck!

for me its http://startinternetradio.tk the discount link for StreamLicensing. StreamLicensing allows you to stream ads allowing your station to pay for itself and make money unlike others. Good Luck.
LoudCity also allows stations to stream ads. This is the second time in recent weeks that you have made a false statatement in support of your affiliate links. I'd suggest you stop.
I am even less informed than the person who started this stream. With these 'licensing agents' that have been listed, If I started a streaming entity, am I limited to just broadcasting music, or can I insert 'other content'? If I created local interviews, local editorial comments, local news, and local commercial content, can I insert that.... or do these companies that make available an affordable form of music licensing restrict your programming to... to... to... MUSIC only?
Since Live365 was one of the sites mentioned, I will address that one. On the personal broadcast plans at Live365, you may broadcast any song registered with ASCAP, BMI, SESAC & Sound Exchange. Talk programming is permitted. The only programming restriction on the personal plans, aside from DMCA regulation, is commercial advertisements. You are not permitted to broadcast any commercial advertisement content, or any other programming designed to earn revenue, on the personal plans.

You can insert local interviews, local comments, local news, local commercials.. the key on any content like that since it's not music that falls under music licensing would be to have rights (or be content you have created) if it's spoken word type content. Naturally in the case of say news.. You would not want to take someone else news cast and use it as yours without their permission.
Fair enough. At the time I conconsidered LoudCity the rules were different and I was unaware of your changes. Your service should now be compatible with Adswizz and Djc Media allowing all new Webcasters to keep their dream alive. Internet Radio is catching on so Kudos to you for allowing revenue generation.

Agreed, but who would pay royalties on their own talk show? Generally speaking, royalties would only come into play when streaming content protected by copyright so I would think someone airing their own talk content all the time would normally have no reason to worry about royalties at all.

I have to tip my hat to LoudCity as well they seem to have really gotten things together over there and with the state of streaming today if you are are rolling the dice and not licensing your stream you are just setting yourself up for what could be an expensive failure.
Its all the more reason that we all need to unite together like John suggested. With some station listing sites making comments like "Internet Radio is just a computer and a playlist" is a falsehood that really hurts us all. iTunes, Pandora, and companies like this is not the same as True Internet Radio and services like LoudCity, StreamLicensing, Live365. Though some stations may rely on AutoDJ when they can't go Live it still is programmed by independent broadcasters who treat their station as if it were a $30,000 over the air station.
The record companies and advertisers who seek a content delivery system like AdsWizz, or whatever CDN network for exposure need to realize the value of Internet Radio. In the beginning I saw only one company allowing ads and yes I made a mistake and didn't constantly check the websites. But that being said if we all unite we could get cheap (or free with ad support) royalty coverage to where artists, labels, and broadcasters all win. Until then we have Chaos and not Radio K A O S (the album by Roger Waters).
So lets all petition or assemble for an alliance and move this thing forward.
I'm suspect of any of the licensing agencies that 'collect' money for online music..can anyone say with 100% knowledge that they actually do forward the revenue to the publishing companies ?? I've sensed this as a giant scam from the get go with these companies. I don't have a horse in the race...but I'd hate to think off all you guys paying for something that is going in the 'wrong" pocket...so to speak...
