Possible Rumors of Houston getting new urban

If the rumors prove to be true, the Radio One urban monopoly can get some competition in the only Top 10 urban market with no competition. More than likely it should be a full service urban along the lines of V-103 Atlanta, KMEL San Francisco, Power 105 New York and Hot 103 Kansas City. It's a given since Love 94, Kiss 98.5/103.3, Party 100.7 -> 104.9 -> 93.3, Hot 97.1, Power 97.5 and Praise 92.1 never had the chance to maintain longevity.

CC may have trademarked "The Beat" but I hope they go with a different handle like K93.7, Power, Jamz or The Bomb. Texas already has enough "Beat" stations in Dallas, San Antonio, Austin, Waco, Lubbock and Amarillo.
