KRBL gets approved for 25,000 watt upgrade

Sad that this new change to the board has killed the radio discussions on here. Miss reading about Lubbock radio! Thought i'd post something!

Just saw on 105.7 The Edge's facebook page that they have been given the OK for 25,000 watts of power. Good for them. I was very unsure how 105.7 would do on 5500 watts of power that barely covers the city with a weak signal (and sometimes gets blown out by 105.7 in Amarillo when troop is strong).

Old Coverage: http://radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/pat?call=KRBL&service=FM&status=L&hours=U

New Coverage: http://radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/pat?call=KRBL&service=FM&status=C&hours=U

I wonder when the transition will take place?

KRBL had to protect 105.3 in Levelland. Dave bought 105.3 from Paul Beene and moved it to Ropes, so now that he owns BOTH 105.3 and 105.7, he doesn't mind if KRBL creates potential interference to 105.3.

I suspect he'll need a new antenna to handle the increased power.

They were using a 10kW BE FM10B when i worked at 105.7 eons ago. Dave would do well to upgrade that old beast if they haven't already.

I remember the thread when this station launched. People were pretty hard on the Walker group for buying such a low grade signal. Perhaps he knew the upgrade was possible when he bought it.

It's on my presets along with Double T, The Eagle, KFYO and FMX and I still listen to it. I generally like it and they don't play commercials on Monday! All the best to them and it'll be nice when the signal gets upgraded so I won't hear static when I'm stopped at a red light :)

Hopefully after this upgrade, they'll consider doing some work to their website 1057edge.com

It needs some work. Their sister station Red Dirt Rebel 1053 has a much cleaner website.
